Democrats are demanding that White House adviser Karl Rove immediately retract and apologize for comments that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to ``prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.'' ``The one thing New York has had since Sept. 11 is unity,'' said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. ``To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people'' is outrageous, he said. ``It's not what New York and America is all about.'' Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that ``liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks...

Six Navy SEALs filed a lawsuit against the Associated Press and one of its reporters yesterday, saying the news organization revealed their identities, compromised their security and invaded their privacy by publishing personal photographs in a Dec. 4 story.     The complaint says AP reporter Seth Hettena used about 40 images from the personal photo-storage Web site of a Navy SEAL wife. [snip] The images were picked up by the Arab press, including Al Jazeera, and have made their way onto a billboard outside U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where detainees from the war on terror are being kept. October 19, 2004 — The Big Story on Action News is a politically motivated film furor Tuesday night in Jenkintown. Supporters of George Bush and John Kerry went nose to nose Tuesday night in Montgomery County, and neither side had any intention of backing down. Nerves are fraying at the edges, and there are still two weeks before Election Day. The emotion of this politically charged presidential election got the best of some people. People who came out to see the anti-Kerry film, "Stolen Honor" were already upset that management of the Baederwood Theater cancelled the showing after threats of...

snip A Zogby poll of Minnesota voters released Sept. 6 indicates that Catholics, who supported Sen. John Kerry by a margin of 48 to 42 percent in the Star Tribune's July Minnesota poll, now are with President Bush by a startling 60 to 36 percent. One organization that has worked hard to make it that way is "Relevant Radio," 1330 AM, the new right-wing Catholic voice of God in town -- and a presence in swing states Wisconsin, Iowa and Pennsylvania. To whatever extent Relevant Radio is making a difference, it does so both by its selection of issues for...

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A tearful U.S. soldier was sentenced to a year in jail Wednesday after pleading guilty to abusing Iraqi detainees in a scandal threatening to undermine President Bush's re-election chances. Military policeman Jeremy Sivits, who apologized to Iraqis at the first court martial of soldiers accused of abuses which sparked worldwide outrage, was also expelled from the army. It was not enough for Iraqis protesting outside Abu Ghraib prison, scene of the scandal that came to light when pictures were published of naked and terrified Iraqi inmates being abused and sexually humiliated. "It's a kangaroo court, set up...

frame grab taken from web site video footage May 11, 2004, shows a man, who identified himself as Nick Berg of Philadelphia (C) seated in front of his five masked captors moments before he was executed. Al Qaeda's leader in Iraq beheaded an American civilian and vowed more killings in revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners, an Islamist Web site said on Tuesday. After one of the masked men read out a statement, they pushed Berg to the floor and shouted 'God is greatest' above his screams as one of them sawed his head off with a large knife...

Insecure, vulgar writer Al Franken, who now claims to be a satirist, revealed during a fund-raising speech to the DNC in New York this week that he is planning on going full bore against the Fox News channel and its anchor Brit Hume. Franken disclosed during the speech that he is still mad about Brit's remark statistically comparing US fatality rate in Iraq to violent deaths in California and that he is planning on attacking Fox News and Brit Hume for alleged insensitivity and callousness towards troops. Viewers of Bill O'Reilly's The Factor may recall Franken's tirade early last...

You may remember the Chicago-based Islamic website Soundvision.com which hosted messages celebrating and applauding the suicide bombing in Israel last week, such as these highlighted by Daniel Pipes: ************************************************************************** SoundVision.com Visitors Applaud Jerusalem Suicide Bombing. The murder of 18 bus-riding Israelis by a militant Islamic terrorist on August 19 met with the expected joy in the Palestinian and Lebanese street ("Several hundred young men poured into the streets of a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon on Tuesday and handed out sweets to celebrate a suicide bomb attack on a Jerusalem bus," reads one account). More noteworthy is the public, English-language...

Freepers, I've seen a couple of 9/11 sites. Some are pretty good. I want a site that a) comes up pretty quickly; b) doesn't have a long drawn-out intro; c) includes the horrible pictures. This is for students in college. I want them to remember, but I do have limited time, and can't have a 10-minute intro. Also, I'd prefer it not to be too preachy, but to let the images/music do all the talking. Suggestions? Thanks.

ABC News and Peter Jennings' favorite country, Cuba, was named by the CPJ as one of the world's worst countries to be a journalist. The Committee to Protect Journalists named Iraq (news - web sites), where nine journalists died in the first three weeks of the U.S.-led invasion, the "worst place in the world" to be a journalist. Afghanistan (news - web sites) was fourth on the list released Friday by the U.S.-based media watchdog, which said its list of "10 worst places to be a journalist" reflected the physical danger, government harassment, jailings and intimidation faced by journalists....

As you all know, as conservatives, we believe it is good sometimes to spank our kids and our wife (ahem), as well as make love to the wife and tickle the children. Why? Because emotions of pleasure and pain etc, have a tendency to hard wire a learned fact. It is called the law of effect, and it is the enemy's strategy that aims at bypassing reason. The left is crude because the left is in a long range process of rewiring what people were taught at birth. They do not go beyond that, yet the scary thing is they...

The Damning Evidence: Iraq-Bin Laden Connection In an address on October 7, 2002, President Bush said: We know that Iraq and al Qaeda have had high-level contacts that go back for a decade…. Iraq could decide on any given day to provide a biological or chemical weapon to a terrorist group or individual terrorists. DETECTIVES investigating a plot by Islamic terrorists to carry out a chemical weapons attack in Britain have found chemical warfare protection suits at a mosque in north London. The NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) suits were discovered during a raid by 150 police officers on the Finsbury Park mosque last Monday. Informed sources said the discovery confirmed growing fears by police and MI5 that a chemical attack is being planned by supporters of Osama Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda movement in Britain. Police announced after the raid they had seized a small arsenal of weapons including a stun gun, an imitation firearm...

"I will not exploit, for political purposes, the apparent sanity of my opponent," said Walter Mondale (D-Insane) when asked whether he was up to the task of returning to the Senate. Mondale made the comments at a press conference where he revealed a wardrobe change, a change that he says will prove once and for all that he is still "hip enough to be a US Senator." "I want my campaign to appeal to young people," Mondale said. To that end, the former Vice President is hosting an election eve dance party headlined by K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Activists...

"Follow the Money". There has been much misdirection and disinformation about where the money was supposed to go. It was to go into a credit card account, but not one stolen in the Alabama robbery. The police chief there was adamant in stating that no credit card was taken in that robbery. A redacted copy of the killer's note has been published, and an astute freeper has shown us how to get past the redactions and read the name on that credit card account. You can find that name by going hereA check for that name hasn't yielded much, but...

It’s official. The Washington-area sniper story is now a full-fledged circus. All the ingredients are in place: 1—A phony witness leads police and media on a wild goose chase, telling a tall tale of a cream colored van with a non-functioning taillight, driven by an olive-skinned man and carrying a shooter with an AK-74 – none of which existed. 2—Fox News sends its top hack, Mr. Showbiz himself, Geraldo Rivera, to do a standup at the Fredricksburg, Virginia, shooting. Afterwards, Geraldo retires to do what he does best, autograph butts at the local Hooters, then jets off to Bali...

God bless those Brits (love them, hate them). Despite spending most of their time fretting over whether Tony sniffs George's ass too much or whether Tony gives it to Cherie too much or whether Charles or Wills will be the next Queen of England, they still have time to focus on the absurd. According to the BBC, a British bookmaker is giving 6-1 to odds that actor Michael Douglas will one day become President of the United States. You see Michael, like most self-important, self-deluded, self-gratifying, liberal Hollywood types, fancies himself more than a guy who makes a living kissing Glenn...
