Major backlogs in processing patient data during the pandemic are forcing the healthcare sector to reassess its relationship with fax machines. As coronavirus cases surged in the city of Austin, Texas, last June, beleaguered public health officials instructed anyone with symptoms to act as though they had Covid-19. The reporting and tracing of new cases had slowed to a crawl, officials explained, partly due to an unexpected culprit: the fax machine. The machines had kicked into overdrive as the pandemic tightened its grip on the city, spitting out printout after printout of results from Covid-19 tests. "We were probably getting...

On April 1, a researcher at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention emailed Nevada public health counterparts for lab reports on two travelers who had tested positive for the coronavirus. She asked Nevada to send those records via a secure network or a “password protected encrypted file” to protect the travelers’ privacy. The Nevada response: Can we just fax them over? You’d hardly know the U.S. invented the internet by the way its public health workers are collecting vital pandemic data. While health-care industry record-keeping is now mostly electronic, cash-strapped state and local health departments still rely heavily on...

SADDAM HUSSEIN'S REGIME PROVIDED FINANCIAL support to Abu Sayyaf, the al Qaeda-linked jihadist group founded by Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law in the Philippines in the late 1990s, according to documents captured in postwar Iraq. An eight-page fax dated June 6, 2001, and sent from the Iraqi ambassador in Manila to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, provides an update on Abu Sayyaf kidnappings and indicates that the Iraqi regime was providing the group with money to purchase weapons. The Iraqi regime suspended its support--temporarily, it seems--after high-profile kidnappings, including of Americans, focused international attention on the terrorist group. The...

Has the State Department released a smoking gun in the Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal? In a thread from June 2011, Hillary exchanges e-mails with Jake Sullivan, then her deputy chief of staff and now her campaign foreign-policy adviser, in which she impatiently waits for a set of talking points. When Sullivan tells her that the source is having trouble with the secure fax, Hillary then orders Sullivan to have the data stripped of its markings and sent through a non-secure channel. That should be game, set, and match, yes?

I know there are smart people here. May I pick your brains to get an answer for a very simple office set-up issue? Unfortunately it is not simple for ME so I am tearing my hair out. I'm a technology-challenged paralegal opening an office in a few weeks with an attorney who is equally inept at this stuff. We will have a lot of initial start-up costs and want a dirt-cheap phone system for a very small office. (Mostly just me as the attorney will only come around every week or so.) All we we want is an old-fashioned landline...

The Hill is reporting that Rep. Jim Hines (D-CT) said today, "If we avoid a government shutdown on Saturday it will be because John Boehner, at last, has figured out a way to gain control of his caucus -- which probably means cutting loose the radical members... quote-unquote Tea Partiers." So there you have it. Democrats aren't the slightest bit interested in representing the people, and are now demanding Republicans too cast us aside so that business as usual can resume on Capitol Hill...

"fair-minded Americans" should be disturbed... and rational people should be very afraid because, as The Times states, Kagan is "disrespectful toward existing law" (read: the Constitution). And that makes Kagan a very dangerous nominee... and, for that reason alone, the American people must work to ensure that the Senate doesn’t rubber-stamp her confirmation.

Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are on a Kamikaze mission. And they’re now preparing to ram government-run health care down our throats by using a series of legislative tricks and parliamentary gimmicks. They’ve just repackaged the same tired ObamaCare ideas that the American people have already rejected... rationed care… drastic cuts to Medicare Advantage… hundreds of billions of dollars in tax increases… the unconstitutional individual mandate… taxpayer-funded abortions… and more.

GOOD NEWS!!! We Are Reaching Critical Mass ! This is all about a Consciousness Shift. It is said that the 30% level represents a tipping point. Things move slowly until the critical mass reaches 30%. After it reaches that point, things start taking off on their own---almost impossible to stop, especially when fueled by Passion and Truth and an Overwhelming Benefit to Mankind. 30% of British nurses refuse to take the Swine Flu Vaccine while 50% of New York Health Care Workers oppose the Swine Flu Vaccine. This issue is about to blow wide open. Just let them try to...

HICKMAN, Kentucky — Officials mistakenly released a prisoner from a Kentucky facility after receiving a phony fax that ordered him freed, and it took them nearly two weeks to realize it. The fax contained grammatical errors, was not typed on letterhead and was sent from a local grocery store. The fax falsely claimed that the Kentucky Supreme Court "demanded" Timothy Rouse be released. Rouse, 19, is charged with beating an elderly man and was at the Kentucky Correctional & Psychiatric Center in La Grange for a mental evaluation. He was released April 6 after officials received the fake court order....

Here is a CSV list of all of the Senate fax numbers. I've been using Efax.com to blast them each a fax letting them know how I feel about the immigration issue. I recommend everyone do that daily. Efax is free for the first 30 days. You can cut and paste this into a file, then import it into the Efax Messenger address book. This will load all the individual number. After you've done this, create a group of all of the senators and you can send them all a fax with just a few clicks. Good luck! ------ Begin...

Leaked fax 'shows Romania helped CIA interrogators' By David Rennie in Brussels (Filed: 10/01/2006) An Egyptian government fax intercepted by Swiss intelligence offers the first "real evidence" that the US interrogated suspected terrorists at secret prisons in Eastern Europe, European politicians said yesterday. The highly-classified fax, purportedly sent late last year by Egypt's foreign minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to its embassy in London, was leaked to a Swiss newspaper on Sunday. In it, Mr Gheit discussed the fate of 23 detainees from Iraq and Afghanistan who were apparently interrogated at the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base in Romania on the Black...

[I received this today in my email, figured it would be worthwhile to give everyone the heads up - thoughtomator] You are getting this email because you (or someone you know) registered your email at www.junkfax.org. I promised we would rarely contact you. Most of you have NEVER been contacted. But now we need your help URGENTLY because Congress plans on passing a bill TODAY that will render your fax machine useless. Congress wants to turn your fax machine into a printing press for advertisers. If you don't call BOTH your Senators to complain, they will think nobody minds, and...
