Ulm (AFP) - The quiet town of Ulm is well-known in Germany as home to a group of Islamic extremists but its residents never imagined it could produce the presumed ringleader of a plot to bomb US targets. "Everyone here knew that there was an Islamist centre in Ulm, but people are in shock. Noone imagined that it would go this far," Ivo Goenner, mayor of the town of 120,000 people on the banks of the river Danube told AFP. Fritz Gelowicz, 28, was the suspected leader of a three-man extremist cell planning to bomb US citizens in Germany, grew...

Ambassadors from Muslim countries have indicated that they intend to present the Swedish prime minister with a list of demands when they meet for talks on Friday. Fredrik Reinfeldt invited the ambassadors from 20 Muslim countries to government offices on Friday following a wave of protests from Muslim countries after the publication of a caricature of Muhammad in local newspaper Nerikes Allehanda. Reinfeldt's press secretary Oscar Hållén was unable to say which countries had confirmed their attendance. Egyptian ambassador Mohamed Sotouhi told news agency TT that he and a group of fellow ambassadors had agreed on a list of measures...

Why Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week Is Needed By John Perazzo FrontPageMagazine.com | 8/24/2007 Members of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) are up in arms over an announced event which they depict as a “hateful” assault against the dignity of Muslims everywhere. “I haven’t decided what I think might be the recommended approach to this,” comments one MSA member. “Do we counter it with parallel events? Do we ignore it all together? Do we use it as motivation to put more work into our usual MSA activities?” Says another, “It would be nice to see some sort of unified response...

Washington’s policy of bringing elections to the Middle East, we were assured, would lead the region’s people to embrace America. But in fact many have flocked to support Islamic totalitarians--members of the ideological movement behind 9/11. In Lebanon’s U.S.-backed election, Hezbollah won positions in the cabinet, and its current drive to topple the regime and take over has massive popular support. In the Palestinian territories, Hamas won in a landslide; it remains both wildly popular and adamantly committed to destroying Israel. In Egypt’s parliamentary elections, the group that scored stupendous gains was the Muslim Brotherhood, whose offshoots include Hamas and...

"It is impossible to ignore the fact that the chairman of the PA blatantly breached commitments that he gave Israel, especially the commitment that a national unity government would not be established before Gilad Shalit was released,? Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told his cabinet on Sunday. He was referring to PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas; and to the Israeli soldier abducted by terrorists who infiltrated Israel from Abbas?s PA last June. Olmert added that Abbas?s commitment was ?given to me time and time again, also during the trilateral meeting [between Olmert, Abbas, and Condoleezza Rice five weeks ago], and it was...

The Sabian Mandaeans - one of the oldest religious groups in the world - are facing extinction, according to its leaders. They claim that Islamic extremists in Iraq are trying to wipe them out through forced conversions, rape and murder. The Mandaeans are pacifists, followers of Adam, Noah and John the Baptist. They have lived in what is now Iraq since before Islam and Christianity. More than 80% have been forced to flee the country and now live as refugees in Syria and Jordan. Even there they do not feel safe - but they say western governments are unwilling to...

A leading mosque in London is selling DVDs that proclaim the coming mass extermination of Jews around the world on a "day of judgment." It also attacks Christian groups and the United Nations. The London Central Mosque, also known as Regent's Park Mosque, is "the spiritual focal point for Muslims" throughout Great Britain, the European Jewish Press reported. It is also home to the Islamic Cultural Center, which educates Muslim children. The report said that a British television station will air on Monday a documentary on Muslim extremism in Britain, and will report the selling of the DVD. The DVDs...

The Somali jihad is over for now, but it still has supporters worldwide – including within the United States. The southern Somali city of Kismayo has fallen to a combined force of Ethiopian and Somali troops. The Somali Supreme Islamic Courts Council regime ruled Mogadishu for only a few months, instituting a particularly draconian version of Sharia. Now its leaders have fled, and the remnants of their forces are now trapped between the sea and Somalia’s border with Kenya. “Nobody expected the Islamists to show this little political resilience. They were the first movement to pacify southern Somalia for 16...

CNN Airs Terrorist Sniper Killing US Soldier Del Williams October 19, 2006 CNN aired a terrorist sniper killing a US soldier. They blacked out the screen when the bullet hit, but that did not stop the sound or description that they went on to share. According to CNN, “The graphic video of 10 sniper attacks was obtained by CNN -- through intermediaries --from the Islamic Army of Iraq, one of the most active insurgent organizations in Iraq.” Are critics correct in their assessment that CNN is full of terrorist sympathizers? Well, after their report on “In the Footsteps of Bin...

At the VDH-apolooza at the Kennedy School last night, Professor Hanson’s sparring partner was Lawrence Korb, one-time Undersecretary of State in the Reagan administration. I didn’t know much about Korb until last night, but it became rather apparent that he was an unrepentant member of the so-called “Realist” school of foreign policy when he lamented the fact that the current Bush administration doesn’t listen to Brent Scowcroft. When Korb mentioned his fondness for Scowcroft, only the fact that I was seated in the Press section prevented me from giving the mere mention of Scowcroft’s name the Haman treatment. (That’s one...

SAQLAWIYAH — “America’s Battalion” is already familiarizing itself with locals in its new area of operations, meeting with local Iraqis and strengthening trust and relations. The Marines new found relationships show how winning hearts and minds can lead to winning the war against insurgents. Over the last weeks, Marines from F Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment patrolled Saqlawiyah and took a census of the area, conducting a show of force and gathering information on insurgents. “The census helps us get a feel for the area,” said Lance Cpl. Human Events The Islamic Pot Calling the Kettle Black by Rabbi Aryeh Spero Sep 18, 2006 Every time Islamists somewhere in the world blow up civilians, kill innocent babies or church goers, behead people, or organize threatening protest mobs -- which is now every day -- Islamic groups in America warn about and scold us for any backlashes that might occur against Muslims or mosques. They forewarn us against criticizing Islam. They even indict us when we wonder why there is no public outcry by Islamic "civil rights" groups or imams against what is being done in the name of...

The following is the prepared text from which Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) spoke as he addressed an academic audience at the Unviersity of Regensburg on September 12. As he actually delivered it, the speech differed slightly. Because the speech has aroused an unusual amount of debate-- particularly regarding the Pope's references to Islam and to religious violence-- CWN strongly recommends reading the entire text.

Once upon a time, Margaret Atwood wrote a book called the Handmaid's Tale, about a nightmarish vision of America taken over by an extremist Christian group who denied women all rights, and in fact, refused to even let them learn to read, and kept them pretty much under thumb at home. The society described was horribly restrictive, with men and women being punished in public ways for infractions that would be considered trivial by the people of our culture. It is interesting that she projected her fear about this on the American Christian right. In reality, this type of society...

While often ignored in the Western media, human rights abuses in the Islamic world are a daily occurrence. Both Muslim states and ad hoc religious courts order mutilation and execution, not only of criminals but also of individuals—mainly women—who have not committed anything which would be considered a crime in other societies. In some cases, Shari‘a (Islamic law) tribunals issue death sentences for those acquitted in regular courts.[1] In other cases, religious leaders invoke religion to sanction non-Islamic practices such as honor killings and female genital mutilation. Original Islamic jurisprudence, however, does not necessarily mandate such severe punishments. In the...

Although Kosovo set a terrifying precedent for Israel, at least two Jews are happy about it. In a recent Wall St. Journal-Europe piece titled Balkan Choice", Morton Abramowitz and Mark Schneider write that Serbian President Vojislav Kostunica's opposition to Kosovo independence risks making his country an "international pariah." Have these two been asleep for 15 years? Serbia has been a pariah since it began fighting Islamo-nationalist terror without the West's permission. Serbs were the first ones fingered in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the ones bombed by Bill Clinton in 1995 for a Sarajevo marketplace massacre - despite...

Last week, this column commended President George W. Bush for calling our jihadist foes as he sees them: Islamic fascists. We then asked, "Will the real Islam please stand up?". Once again, it has. On Tuesday, 29-year-old Omeed Aziz Popal, recently returned to the U.S. from Afghanistan, went on a rampage in his SUV in a heavily Jewish area of San Francisco, killing one man and sending 14 other victims to the hospital, seven in critical condition. According to one eyewitness, "The SUV struck two people in front of the Jewish Community Center ... on California Street, a few blocks...
