Detroit’s fiscal woes have been front and center in the news recently. Now this is a new claim that Detroit’s pension woes are not as bad as Kevyn Orr, the city’s emergency manager, estimated. Orr stated that the underfunding of the city’s two pension funds at $3.5 billion. Orr arrived at that figure in part by estimating the funds’ expected annual return on assets at 7%. SANFORD, Fla. — Channel 9 has learned a potential juror in the George Zimmerman trial who had been dismissed Wednesday was escorted out of the Seminole County courthouse on Friday. The man, referred to only by his juror number, E7, was at the courthouse demanding to know how the defense learned of a website post that got him dismissed earlier this week. Gunfire from Syria was directed at IDF soldiers who were patrolling the border on Sunday morning. The IDF returned fire on a Syrian army position from which the soldiers were attacked. There were no injuries or damage reported on the Israeli side, the army said. All work along the security fence to fortify the frontier has been temporary suspended, the army added. The IDF did not clarify whether the incident was the result of accidental fire from the Syrian civil war or a direct attack on the IDF soldiers.

WASHINGTON - Kansas became on Tuesday the second U.S. state to return a large federal grant meant to help it create a prototype health insurance exchange as part of the Obama administration's healthcare overhaul. Republican Governor Sam Brownback said the state would give back the $31.5 million it received from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to become an early leader, along with six other states, in establishing health insurance exchanges that other local government could use as a model.
