WASHINGTON, D.C., January 31 (C-Fam) Last November at a summit in Nairobi, the UN Population Fund announced that it would take $264 billion to reduce global maternal deaths and protect women and girls from violence. The agency just released a publication outlining the details of how the billions would be spent—and the fine print includes abortion. One of the enduring legacies of ICPD in 1994 is the compromise that was struck among nations: that the legal status of abortion was for national governments to determine, and that where legal, it should be “safe.” In the past quarter century, the same...

NEW YORK, October 18 (C-Fam) The pro-abortion UN Population Fund (UNFPA) does not want pro-life critics in attendance when the agency convenes a conference in Nairobi in mid-November. UNFPA and the government of Kenya are co-hosting the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25: Accelerating the Promise to mark the 25th anniversary of the original and very controversial Cairo Conference on Population and Development. UNFPA’s website claims the conference “will offer an inclusive platform, bringing together governments, civil society, private sector organizations, women’s’ groups and youth networks to discuss and agree on actions to accelerate implementation” of the Cairo Program of Action. Pro-life...

The U.N. population agency chief said Wednesday she regrets the U.S. government’s decision to cut funding for programs that help ensure safe pregnancies worldwide. The United States used to provide about $70 million per year toward UNFPA programs to protect the health and lives of women and girls in developing countries. More than half of those funds were used for “life-saving humanitarian programs,” said Dr. Natalia Kanem, the agency’s executive director. The Trump administration announced in 2017 it was cutting all funding to the agency. The move was seen as a gesture to American conservatives and anti-abortion activists, though UNFPA...

The Trump administration said Monday it was ending funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), long a target of conservatives over concerns that its work in China abets the communist authorities’ controversial population limitation programs. The administration’s first confirmed cut to a U.N. agency will cost the UNFPA $32.5 million. Its budget proposal for fiscal year 2018 calls for unspecified reductions to contributions to the U.N. budget, and further “seeks to reduce or end direct funding for international organizations whose missions do not substantially advance U.S. foreign policy interests, are duplicative, or are not well-managed.” The move comes as...

Just months before the most important U.N. climate conference in years, Republican appropriators in the House of Representatives are taking aim at one of the Obama administration’s most cherished priorities—international climate change funding. An appropriations bill for the State Department and foreign operations, released Tuesday, excludes funding for three major climate initiatives—the Green Climate Fund, the Clean Technology Fund, and the Strategic Climate Fund—and also removes funding for the U.N.-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Also in the firing line is funding for the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and debt relief. …

A recent report from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) says that laws against abortion, sex work, drugs, and same-sex relationships impinge upon the freedoms and potential of young people. In the report, which was heavily criticized by C-FAM and the Population Research Institute's Steven Mosher, UNFPA also says that young people worldwide -- including minors -- should have unrestricted freedom to engage in contraceptive sexual intercourse and abortion without parental involvement. "Emergency contraception is something that adolescents particularly need because they use relatively ineffective methods," the report states. "Another systematic literature review by Denno et al. (2012) shows that...

Is the UNFPA Run by Sex Addicts?A book titled “Sun King†about South-West Native American life, told of a traditional belief that witches live in secret chambers in hillsides, where they hold their convocations, doing terrible things to people walking alone whom they have waylaid.Might these hillside lairs of witches be the skycrapers inhabited by leaders of the Ford Foundation or the Rockefeller-funded Population Foundation?Does an elite, international movement that seeks to initiate millions of people into lives of sexually obsessive behavior run the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)? I had a chance encounter with a sex addict that causes...

Representative Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said at the Heritage Foundation on Thursday that despite his and other congressmens’ efforts to hold Communist China accountable for its one-child, forced abortion policy, President Barack Obama and his administration are not only ignoring the policy but are advancing the “brutal program.” “I respectfully submit that not only is the Obama administration turning a blind eye to the atrocities being committed under the one-child policy, but it is even contributing financial support—contrary to U.S. law—to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA),” Smith said in a keynote address at the event. …

These following media showcases are being funded by the UNFPA. I've looked high and low trying to determine what the "F" stood for in the acronym UNFPA but haven't had any luck on finding out what it means. It seems, efforts by the UN to stop child marriages is being undertaken. Click Here:Too Young To Wed Too Young To Wed

The United Nation’s Population Fund has issued an annual report describing access to birth control and contraception as a “universal human right” for “women and adolescents.” The is the first time the UN agency has labeled birth control a right, although the report is not legally binding on any nations and does not affect or alter the laws of any country in any way. Still, the declaration is a concern for pro-life advocates, who are worried it is the first step towards the United Nations attempting to make abortion an international right. In its report, the UNFPA also indicated it...

Friday September 3, 2010 Sex Toys on Display at the World Youth Conference By Terrence McKeegan, J.D. LEON, MEXICO, Sept. 3, 2010 (C-FAM) - Last week at the World Youth Conference, organized primarily by the Mexican government and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the main event for most of the estimated 5000 "participants" was the Interactive Global Forum, a massive expo with hundreds of booths and exhibits. A tour of the booths revealed what passes for "age-appropriate" sexual education in some UN circles.Because the venue for the World Youth Conference had considerably more exhibit space than most...

Girls Scouts Go Wild Malcolm A. Kline, March 22, 2010 While Girl Scouts around the country went door to door selling cookies, their national representatives were trying to explain a sex brochure distributed at a UN meeting the GSA was represented at. “As to their claim that the brochure might have been left in the room by a previous organizational user, the Friday Fax looked into the question of who used the room prior to the Girl Scouts at 4:00 pm on March 1,” Terrence McKeegan reported in a weekly communication sent out by the Catholic Family and Human Rights...

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) received $50 million from the United States government this year, despite its involvement in China, where the government's population program, according to the U.S. State Department, includes a "coercive birth limitation policy" that in some cases results "in forced abortion or forced sterilization."

LIMA, June 19, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Peru's government has decided to end its investigation against former health officials for thousands of forced sterilizations carried out during the late 1990s, under president Alberto Fujimori.Human rights organizations have thoroughly documented evidence that women were physically coerced, threatened, tricked, and enticed with economic incentives during the implementation of the program, which sterilized a total of approximately 400,000 Peruvian women in just two years, 1997 and 1998, with the help of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).The coercive actions of program officials have been tied to pressure from the Peruvian government to meet...

Thursday May 28, 2009 New Approach to Abortion Rights at UN: “Motherhood and Apple Pie” By Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.NEW YORK, NY, May 28,2009 (C-FAM) Abortion rights advocates at the United Nations (UN) are pursuing a new approach – one that avoids mention of abortion, promotes a right to maternal health, and seeks to enforce “reproductive rights†norms among UN member States. The reason for the shift seems to be an increased confidence among activists and UN officials that they have secured or are close to securing a new international right to abortion. According to statements by the Center for Reproductive Rights...

Thursday May 7, 2009 Commentary: Obama Supports Kidnapping Commentary by Steven W. Mosher, President, Population Research Institute (PRI) May 7, 2009 (PRI) - Our own Colin Mason is back from China. His week-long undercover investigation revealed fresh abuses in China's One-Child policy and new proof of the U.N. Population Fund's complicity in these abuses. Remember that the UNFPA has been in China since 1979, helping the Beijing authorities to implement their program. Colin visited three counties where the U.N. Population Fund claims to run "voluntary" family planning programs, and found that they were anything but. What struck me about...

Washington, DC -- The check may have already been in the mail, but the Obama administration announced Tuesday that it is sending $50 million to the UNFPA. That's the UN population agency that has been criticized for promoting abortion and working closely with Chinese population control officials. In China, the enforcement of the coercive one-child rule has resulted in forced abortions, involuntary sterilizations and other human rights abuses. Research from the United States and British governments, along with the group Population Research International, has shown UNFPA officials working side-by-side their Chinese colleagues and going as far as sharing the same...
