Kindergarteners in rural West Virginia must endure a three hour commute to and from school each day, leaving the five year-olds too exhausted to play. Among them is Kolbie Hale, 5, who gets up at 5am each weekday and leaves her home in Waiteville, West Virginia, each day at 5.45am- like clockwork. Her parents drive her to the home of her grandmother Tammy Hale, a few miles down the road. There, she she waits for the 6.25am bus to Mountain View Elementary and Middle School, with the trip taking 90 minutes. She arrives in time to recite the pledge of...

A Target superstore in West Virginia has shut down after a slipping hillside caused it collapse, tearing off one corner of the building. Shocking video shows a giant crack in the corner of the store in Barboursville where the ground beneath has given way, causing it to fall free. The store closed on February 2 when the hill first slipped, and then when it slipped even further on Wednesday, the store was forced to shut its doors indefinitely. It's not yet known what caused the slippage, but three families were evacuated from homes behind the Target, with the shopping chain...

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is the epitome of the double-minded man. While the Democrat claims to be pro-life he is actively promoting abortions. Machin announced yesterday that he has sponsored a bill to “codify Roe v. Wade.” However, the so-called Reproductive Freedom For All Act, actually implements abortions up to birth nationwide. Naturally, Manchin didn’t mention that– he couched that radical agenda behind the term “codify Roe.” But since Roe v. Wade allowed abortions up to birth unless states passed legislation to protect babies from late term abortions, Roe essentially means abortions up to birth. The bill actually would...

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia State Senate has passed a bill designed to keep slow drivers out of the fast lane. Senate Bill 441 was introduced to the State Senate in January with a goal of restricting slow drivers from driving in the left lane, or the fast lane, of multi-lane roads. It would require drivers to remain in the right lane, except in circumstances such as passing a vehicle, preparing to exit to the left or if the right side of the road is in need of repair or otherwise unsafe to drive on, among other exceptions....

On Truth Social, Trump posted, “I do not think we should do a Border Deal, at all, unless we get EVERYTHING needed to shut down the INVASION… Also, I have no doubt that our wonderful Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, will only make a deal that is PERFECT ON THE BORDER.” Manchin said, “I have never been more concerned about my country than I am today. A small town lawyer from West Virginia was in for an extraordinary surprise when he discovered a 253-year-old pre-Revolutionary War fort hidden inside the walls of his Monroe County plantation home. John Bryan, 43, a self-described history buff and amateur archeologist, purchased the property in 2019 with a hunch that the large white clapboard farmhouse was built around an old log fort known as Byrnside's Fort. 'We had to buy the property first before being able to take a crowbar to it to see if the logs were inside the walls.' It was originally built in 1770 by an early...

A former top aide to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y., funneled six figures in donor funds from his political action committee into his own pockets for reported consulting work, all while spending minimal amounts on the PAC's actual mission. Corbin Trent, who previously acted as a top aide to Ocasio-Cortez and helped propel her into office, formed the No Excuses PAC after his departure as her communications director in 2019 and exiting her campaign in 2020. Trent launched No Excuses in 2021 with the goal of nuking the Senate filibuster by targeting senators Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Kirsten Sinema, I-Ariz....

I’m not sure exactly when it happened. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is making a lot of people who were formerly critical of him suddenly find themselves in agreement with him. That includes me. No one is more astounded than me. When John Fetterman was elected, I thought he was a far-left progressive married to an illegal immigrant. He was. Then he had a massive stroke. As he recovered, he continued to run for the Senate. He campaigned from his basement and his wife ran interference for him. She misled everyone into believing that he was fine and would be ready...

Unlike in Colorado, a case brought in federal court to keep former Republican president Donald Trump off of the primary and general election ballots in West Virginia was dismissed. In a memorandum opinion and order released Thursday evening, U.S. District Judge Irene C. Berger granted motions made by attorneys for Trump, Secretary of State Mac Warner and the West Virginia Republican Party to dismiss a lawsuit brought in September by Texas resident and write-in presidential candidate John Anthony Castro. Berger also ordered that Castro’s case be dismissed without prejudice, which would allow Castro to possibly file the case again during...

Hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved over the years when naloxone — commonly known as Narcan — is administered to someone overdosing on opioids. Drugs Illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl can be mixed with xylazine, either to enhance drug effects or increase street value by increasing their weight. sedative/tranquilizer called xylazine to heroin, fentanyl and other opioids. And that’s bad news for addicts because naloxone doesn’t reverse a xylazine overdose. In a recent gubernatorial debate, West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner, a Republican, made the bold statement that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) played a role in stealing the 2020 presidential election from Donald Trump. As a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Army and the current Secretary of State of West Virginia, Warner positions himself as a “battle-tested leader” on his campaign website. His military and administrative experiences form a significant part of his gubernatorial campaign. During a recent debate held by Metro News, Warner doubled down on his past allegations of widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election....

The footprint, which measured around 9 inches in width, was found in a patch of mud in Ritchie County. There are few cryptozoological creatures that have generated as much debate and intrigue over the years as Bigfoot - a large hairy hominid said to roam the remote forests of North America. For many, Bigfoot is little more than a myth, while for others, its existence is undisputed - often due to a personal experience that has left little doubt in that person's mind that the creature is the real deal. One individual who would seem to fall firmly into the...

Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) decision to retire has made the Senate landscape in 2024 even more complicated for Democrats. The party was already facing an uphill slog to hold on to its Senate majority, as it prepared to protect seats in West Virginia, Montana and Ohio — three states where the GOP nominee for president will be heavily favored. Manchin’s name on the ballot suggested a competitive race. Without him, the Senate seat seems wrapped for the GOP as a gift. Losing the state would leave no room for another loss for Democrats if they hope to keep their majority,...

Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) potential presidential bid may not just spoil the Senate Democrats’ chances of keeping the majority; many Democrats now worry that it may spoil the election in favor of former President Donald Trump. “I think it would be very, very unfortunate if Joe Manchin decided to do that,” Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) said of Manchin’s possible presidential bid. “I know he’s a supporter of President Biden and has been an important person here in the U.S. Senate in terms of getting things done. And he knows that if he were to step in [to the race] that...
