Greetings from northeast Arkansas! I am a nursing home administrator and among a small minority in my profession who believe we need to wean our industry from the government teat, and encourage employers to offer long term care insurance as a fringe benefit, especially to younger workers, for whom the premiums are dirt cheap. If most people were covered by long term care insurance, we could begin saving taxpayers money by easing away from Medicaid financing of nursing home stays. Less dependency on government money could also start liberating our industry from strangling government regulations which take too much nursing time away from patients to comply with paperwork requirements.
