Depends on where you live, of course.
Here in southwest Florida in red Sarasota County our cul-de-sac has five houses. Three of them have the American flag out front, ours included.
That may mean nothing, or it may mean something. Large family across the street homeschool and pastor their church. Another couple is a Marine and his feisty Puerto Rican wife. Snowbird neighbors next door are retired law enforcement. I take comfort in all of these things, rational or not.

I always thought that too. But that was before the leftists have been busy kicking the legs out from under the American way of life.
If the rats steal the next election, I don’t think we will have a civil war, we will probably have a revolution!

CWII will begin when these little commies gun up and go outside the college campuses. Thats when they will meet the true Americans. It won’t be like CWI, it will be chaos in the city streets, primarily at night.
I don't know if you could call it a "civil war" since we will likely be fighting invaders mostly.

Its not just rural vs urban though its often portrayed that way. There is an underlying regional characteristic to this and as more and more Leftugees vote with their feet and get out of blue chitholes like California and New York and Illinois, that regional characteristic is only being reinforced.
The Acela Corridor from the 3 counties of Occupied Northern Virginia up to Maine is overwhelmingly Leftist. Joining them is the Left Coast (not the whole states of California, Oregon and Washington - just the coastal strip), Hawaii and a few islands like Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit.
The rest - the South, the Midwest and non Left Coast West and Alaska is traditional America.
At this point, I’d be perfectly happy for two sides to formally separate. They don’t get along. They haven’t for a long time. The differences are so deeply ingrained they are as much cultural as they are political. Both sides don’t just have different worldviews, they really detest one another. Peaceful separation would be the best outcome. We in America at least, would be much happier. New England and the Left coast would continue to be miserable but then again, they’re always miserable about everything. So nothing much would change. But we in America would be happier and we would remove the cancer from our body politic.
When we bought here a couple years ago what made a huge impression on me, coming from California, was there were no, no as in zero, tents, vagrants or beggars. After Hurricane Ian hit and power was out (including gas stations) for days and days there was a cop car in every mall parking lot. There was no looting, no lawlessness crap.
Power companies from out of state descended on the place helping Florida Power and Light. Trash removal trucks here for months taking away the damage from people's trashed homes they had dragged out to the side of the road. Arbor companies or plain chain saw guys were out in force cutting up downed trees.
Policy and effectiveness of said policy is a big thing to me and needless to say I am a big fan of our governor.
There are several what I call “1 bomb states”.
Nuke:
Minneapolis and Minnesota is a red state
Detroit and Michigan is a red state
Philly and Pennsylvania is a red state
Occupied Northern Virginia and Virginia is a red state
Denver and Colorado is a red state
Albuquerque and New Mexico is a red state
Seattle and Washington is a red state
The Williamette Valley and Oregon is a red state
Chicago and Illinois is a red state
NYC and New York is a red state
You could literally flip 10 states with 10 nukes.
You are right until your complacent family:
1. Lose their job due to Green New Deal and the economy is so bad they can’t find another.
2. The home mortgage sends them into bankruptcy.
3. The boat and pleasure toys are repossessed.
4. A daughter is raped in the school bathroom by a trans gender kid who goes unpunished. Its happened. And there is no soccer because its been deemed racist. (Hasn’t happened yet but in today’s climate, who is to say it wont)
Its all happening. In small doses but steadily. Add in no border protection and you have to ask yourself, “Is this what the Elites in DC wanted all along?”. You ask this because the policies are so overtly horrendous there can hardly be any other explanation than these evil corrupt oligarchs want the destruction of us.
If they manage to keep Trump from the Whitehouse this November, I predict Texas will use the clause in their constitution and leave the Union.
If Trump is jailed, it will not only frighten those who look at him and say, “,If it can be done to a Billionaire, imagine what they can do to me.”, It will say to others, “ What more do I honestly have to lose. Enough is enough.”
Will there be Civil War? If there is, it will be fought much differently. I think the key is Texas. They have reached the breaking point. And the rest of the complacent men and women in this country are on the trajectory to a very rude awakening.

True, but if civil unrest becomes so severe that he can’t get to the job and the kids can’t get to school or soccer practice, he won’t have a choice. That’s when it gets really bad.
Civil War? Nope. Only if it was triggered by some clearly unconstitutional act. It would be something that woulld need to anger a large percent of the population before it would start. What?
1. Send Trump to Jail, where he is stabbed to death.
2. Arrest Trump for treason against the state.
3. Ban all Firearms and send Soldiers to take them from all people—use metal detectors to find them, shoot any who object.
4. Ban MAGA followers and place them in re-education camps using old shopping malls. Call them insurrectionists.
5. Ban Hate Speech Republican Party as agents of KKK.
These might do it.
Yes, and hit a wall of armed citizens.
I hate to think what would happen when they invaded Second Amendment Country.
The determining factor is whether they can or not. We all know that if they can they will.
Maybe this is the core of the great divide: civilization vs. brutality, ascendancy vs. decadence, good vs. evil, enlightenment vs. benightedness.
The left has lost its way.
Why has Texas not done this already?
The way out of this mess MUST be peaceful. We MUST find a peaceful way.
