"US Rep. Murtha says he wouldn't join military now"

And he probably wouldn't have joined back when he did if he hadn't been drafted. Murtha's a phony from the word 'Go'.

So, he voted to send others to go, but he is too big a pussy to go. Sounds like a politician and a RAT.

Murtha would join if the Army provided all recruits with Jazzy Power Chairs complete with complementary cup holders. Sounds like this Murtha Effer has spent too much time on the DC cocktail circuit. What use to be a good man has gone into a whole load of Tranquilities.

Murtha is still exhibiting Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. He's a sick man and needs to be institutionalized while he recovers. /s

Many years ago,(1966) when I joined the military, I was given a list and asked, "Do you belong to any subversive groups on the list?"

There were many groups, from the ABRAHAM LINCOLN BRIGADE (I had no idea what this group was), to the KKK.

It appears that we now need to add the Democratic Party to this list.

He obviously doesn't have the smarts to be a Marine anymore. He seems to be experiencing early stages of dementia.

Say, doesn't todays military have a don't ask, don't tell policy? He needn't worry.

"Let me tell you, war is a nasty business. It sears the soul," he said, choking up. "And it made a difference. The shadow of those killings stay with you the rest of your life."

That is what war is about. Murtha seems to think the experience is so searing, that no one should serve in the military if we are at war. The end game is not pretty with that attitude. The upside is that comments like this will make more clear, that Murtha is way past his prime, if he ever had a prime, and not to be taken seriously.

I'll bet the top brass of the democrat party is holding incriminating pictures of this guy. What other reason would he have to make a 180 degree turn on the military?

"Let me tell you, war is a nasty business. It sears the soul," he said, choking up. "And it made a difference. The shadow of those killings stay with you the rest of your life."

Asked for comment, a Defense Department spokesman, Lt. Col. John Skinner, said: "We have an all-volunteer military. People are free to choose whether they serve or not."

That pretty well says it all. Except that Murtha is not just a private person. As a Congressman he has certain duties and responsibilities to his country. He has betrayed those responsibilities and should resign from office.

Murtha does not want the U.S. to win in Iraq. He thinks it is a win for the Republicans when it is a win for all of America!

This ba$tard needs to have his epaulets sheared, his saber snapped in two and be drum rolled out the front gate of Fort Apache! Frikkin' pathetic! Is there some way he can be ex-communicated from the Corps? I'm not a Marine or a former one but this clown is a total embarrassment to the Globe and Anchor society as far as I'm concerned!

"...I did spend 29 years in the Air Force, and I served in Korea and Vietnam and spent 7 years as a POW in Vietnam and more than half of that in solitary confinement. I know what it is like to be far from home, serving your country, risking your life, hearing that America doesn't care about you as happened in Vietnam..."

I'm pretty sure Little Johnny Murtha couldn't cut it in today's military so he shouldn't flatter himself. What an idiot.

So the thousands who continue to volunteer, are they lacking some common sense, Mr. Murtha? Everyday, every minute and every hour, young men and women continue to volunteer to serve their country. Not only that, look at the reenlistment rates of this volunteer force.
