The Pope is also against abortion and homosexuality. Do the Libs really want to stick with Reid’s argument? I really don’t think that they want to open that can of worms.

I strongly sense that the fix is in and the GOP political establishment from the president on down is helping McCain.

That’s a good and appropriate word.

If that’s true its news to me, because I sure don’t see it.

Exactly. Anyway traitor Reid bringing the Pope statement to respond to McCain was very low and a sign of total bankruptcy because he cannot defend his treason anymore with any logic or facts. This low life Reid will always surprise us how low he can sink to undermine the war and provide aid and comfort to the enemy on an hourly basis.

I find it HIGHLY ironic that Reid, a Mormon, would refer to the Pope. Words fail me.

Fix? What fix? Stop your stupid conspiracy theories. No one on this planet can force you or any Republican voters in the primaries to vote for a certain candidate.

JVeritas, with all due respect, McCain consistently takes liberal positions against Bush or other Republican positions in the media, but in the end, more often votes for the conservative side.

His equivocation on the situation in Iraq is perhaps his latest example. He stated one thing, then for the media’s sake, took it all back, stating that Iraq was basically as bad as ever.

He has countless other occasions in which he says one thing in one context, only to completely go against it in another.

McCain has continued to argue against the Bush tax cuts (conservatives generally don’t like giving money to government), fought against conservatives for his brain-dead campaign finance reform approach which he got (conservatives don’t support government telling us where we can donate our monies), and has fought to break up media companies (conservatives generally believe shareholders (owners) should be the ones to determine what happens with their money).

Even the Democrats' own website states this:

This morning’s appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press was just the latest stop on John McCain’s double talk express. McCain has tried to cast himself as a straight shooter, yet his answers to important issues continue to shift. Since 2000, John McCain has changed his position on abortion, gay marriage, creationism, and tax cuts. But one recent admission by John McCain appears to be true. As Russert noted, John McCain told America in a recent interview that he “doesn’t like to lose.”

“This morning, Senator John McCain embraced a man he once called an ‘evil influence’ on the Republican Party,” said DNC Communications Director Karen Finney. “McCain has changed his position so many times that Americans can’t know where he stands on anything. Unfortunately, it appears that McCain’s admission that he ‘doesn’t like to lose’ is the most straight talk voters should expect from him for the next two years.”

Unfortunately, I have to give the Democratic party props for seeing, on this one occasion, some semblance of the ‘double-talk’ truth McCain is known for.

If you’d like to read more about McCain and how “unconservative” he is, you might like reading this essay from the Washington Monthly:

Enjoy.

If Satan is popular, low life traitor Reid will quote him to serve his treasonous agenda.

I’ve always disliked the way McLame went against conservatives and the President....until recently. Lately he’s shown guts.

I'd also like to salute a few old comrades of mine, Orson Swindle, Jim Berger and Paul Galanti...

McCain has a lot of nerve pointing out Galanti. The last time I herd him refer to Galanti it was to call him "dishones and dishonorable" because he was a Swiftee.

All what you posted does not make him 85% liberal and 15% conservative. What is his Conservative Vote Record rating in the Senate? His life time record is 82% according to the American Conservative Union.

That’s why everything has to be discrete like a slow shift in President Bush’s policy to conform with McCain. Hence the “troop surge.”

McCain hasn't waivered in his support for the war, even though all his friends in the MSM are claiming that's the reason his campaign isn't gaining traction with the voters.

The MSM doesn't know squat. His support of the war is the only thing that keeps McCain from being a 100% weasel-instead he's only 95% weasel.

Excerpts from the speech below are not nearly as important as what McCain has to say, but.....

It's now been 64 days since I have requested that Congress pass emergency funding for these troops.... And instead of proving [sic] that vital funding, the Democrat leadership in Congress has spent the past 64 days pushing legislation that would undercut our troops, just as we're beginning to make progress in Baghdad. In both the House and the Senate, majorities have passed bills that substitute the judgment of politicians in Washington for the judgment of our commanders on the ground. They set arbitrary deadlines for withdrawal from Iraq, and they spend billions of dollars on pork barrel projects and spending that are completely unrelated to this war.

Now, the Democrats who pass these bills know that I'll veto them, and they know that this veto will be sustained. Yet they continue to pursue the legislation. And as they do, the clock is ticking for our troops in the field. In other words, there are consequences for delaying this money.
[snip]
The bottom line is this: Congress's failure to fund our troops will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines. Others could see their loved ones headed back to war sooner than anticipated. This is unacceptable. It's unacceptable to me, it's unacceptable to our veterans, it's unacceptable to our military families, and it's unacceptable to many in this country.

The United States Senate has come back from its spring recess today. The House will return next week. When it comes to funding our troops, we have no time to waste. It's time for them to get the job done.
[snip]
The Democrat leaders in -- Democratic leaders in Congress are bent on using a bill that funds our troops to make a political statement about the war. They need to do it quickly and get it to my desk so I can veto it, and then Congress can get down to the business of funding our troops without strings and without further delay.

We are at war. It is irresponsible for the Democratic leadership in Congress to delay for months on end while our troops in combat are waiting for the funds they need to succeed.
