If the cow was bred in TX, the "flipper" lived in SD, worked in MN, paid his taxes in OH, had kids in FL, paid child support in CA, learned his trade by going to school in NM well, ANY full fledged supporter of more government control could find it to fall under the ICC. /snicker
Huh, my wages have gone up every year since 1982.
Not as much as my overall tax burden has however...
You wouldn't be for child labor laws that caused more children to be employed, would you?
Liberalism is increasingly the ability to suspend the use of common sense.
Seems like to me, if people are willing to work for a wage, that seems like a fair wage, illegal or not.
What are those responsibilities?
Are you on the right blog?
Uh, no, I’m sorry, but I actually had to go into some debt like most people in order to pay for my education. No one should get a free ride when it comes to higher education, if you want it, sacrifice. I actually think the rising cost of college will turn out to be a good thing. Those who are truly motivated will find a way to afford it, those who aren’t, well, they’ll end up where they belong.
Anyone who says they can’t afford college is full of it, when there is a will, there is a way, almost no one pays for their college in full by semester, and it was that way a generation ago too. It is absolute nonsense to ask the government to pay for your education. If you aren’t willing to make some sort of concession for it, you’re not deserving of it.
...or she could use take a few community college classes and get a job that pays her $4.00+ more per hour.
Folks stay poor for several reasons, including having children out of wedlock, lack of education, and the fact that the government is handing out free money and benefits, a factor that essentially makes it attractive to be "poor."
Furthermore, potential employers look very carefully at how you financed your education. Somebody who got a free ride from the government isn’t going to be looked upon very highly come hiring time.
The propaganda in this article is insidious, yet illustrative.
Consider: the article carries the clear tone that the higher Minimum wage is “good.”
Yet, President Bush’s signing of this bill into law back in May is given no notice.
This is per the modus operandi of the Left: if Bush does something that they consider to be “good,” then it must be ignored or downplayed. In this article, he wasn’t even credited.
Likewise, if Bush does something that the Left considers “bad,” then he is castagated in nearly every sentence uttered or written.
Heads the Left wins, tails the Right loses.
Pray tell, how exactly would they obtain this information, since your school's Financial Aid office can not disclose such information without the student's written authorization?
The truth is that employers know very little about how a prospective employee's education was financed, other than entries for student loan accounts that may show up on the prospect's credit record, which employers usually obtain, after obtaining written authorization.
Those who are truly motivated will find a way to afford it, those who arent, well, theyll end up where they belong.
Which the point most other conservatives forget is those persons who made mistakes, they end up where they belong.. Then you pay for their healthcare and housing for life and k-12 for their children. I am thinking of ways of helping them get out so we have to pay a lot less in the long run.
