From the same folks who demanded military press conferences.

Propaganda is also a valuable military weapon, also known as PsyOps. The military should not be obligated to tell the public the truth 100% of the time. Anybody ever hear of disinformation? What, we can kill people, but never lie? In wartime, the gloves should come completely off.

I'm sure the Democrats might even view the military as almost a GOP establishment (like they view Fox News). One thing is for sure, with the soldiers I have been around, there are far more conservatives than liberals. Of course, most soldiers come from red states. Not too many from the blue Northeast. There is definitely a motive for the DNC to attempt to block military absentee voting.

We are a nation blessed with Citizen Soldiers. Our soldiers are neither a janissary slave army nor money lusting mercenaries.

Our U.S. Military personnel are afforded the same Rights as common citizens being neither above nor below the status of the common citizen; yet, because of the nature of their work, held to a much higher standard.

The opinions of the common soldier are as relevant as the opinions of the common citizen.

American History does not look kindly upon defeatist politics. The US Military will uphold the higher moral standards as it did in the 1864 Presidential Election. Gen. McClellan owed his rise to power and prominence to the Union and he betrayed America by being a whinny loser. President Lincoln declared free the black-skinned slaves from Confederate states which subsequently led to the freeing of all slaves.

The soldier's vote matters greatly, and the soldier's influence will not wane.

The rhetoric Democrats spew about “supporting the troops” is belied by their actions.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

"CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW..."

It matters greatly, but as we've seen, if a soldier is deployed and has to vote absentee, his or her vote stands little chance of being counted. That goes for the civilians deployed with the military as well.

This is all thanks to the Democrats, may they rot.

I add that in proposed legislation, the Rats would formally protect both those who leak classified information and the journalist/publisher who released it.

And then there is the so-called Fairness Doctrine. At the direction of President Obama, the FCC could shut down talk radio overnight.

As a sidebar, BO also alluded to the near certainty of referring criminal probes against President Bush, Cheney, Rove, et al.

Beginning with Nixon, the rats have accelerated their habit of not just defeating, but destroying their opponents.

“And just who determines what is propoganda (sic)?” The question is not about propaganda, it’s about the free flow of truth to the American people (via the press) by, in this case DoD.

Propaganda, by it’s definition is information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.

“Military statements about the status of the war can be subjective...” Unless you’re telling the truth about the fact or do not speak about it because of OPSEC or investigations are not known. It might have been different before or other countries do it differently, but that’s how the “business” is transacted.

“they can get their negative message out with no positive feedback from the Military to counteract it.” Bullsh*t. So there will be no press conferences? No public statements? No all-hands to the troops? No opportunites to go on T.V/Radio? Won’t happen.

“Propaganda, by it’s definition is information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely “

Propaganda is another term for “public relations” and used to be a term with good connotations.

Look up Edward Bernays, he was one of the people responsible for WWII “propaganda”. The success of “propaganda” used by the USG caused a backlash against the term (from the usual suspects), it’s now a pejorative. My campaign has a public relations expert, yours uses propaganda.

But do look up Bernays and his books.

Kipling worked in the propaganda office in the UK.

This stupid law will try to prove that the Pentagon used “public relations”.

I like your insight into Psyops- that of course is an important issue when the military makes public statements and the ability to do so should not be abridged. If only we could trust congress to approve such things.

The weight of your opinion goes further than mine. I feel immensely honored that you read my post and replied. I wish for you to not shrink in courage and likewise to report all that you witness. I wish, also, that you and deployed Americans remain active in shaping politics that would otherwise be distracted and led astray.

God Bless You.

This is vile, even for the Democrats.

I find it insulting to our venerable armed services that the Democrats would so blatantly try to gag them, particularly when we are in a war that is being misrepresented in the media by those whom wish to play politics when we are fighting a crucial war.

In a Republic such as ours, it is essential for the military to explain its progress and successes in any war effort so as to dispel uninformed doubts which might exist on behalf of the citizenry.

If anything, we need to hear more from our men and women in uniform, not less.

You are far too kind. My opinion is no better than anyone else's but you are very sweet to say that. Your post regarding the military vote was excellent and beautifully worded.

I wish for you to not shrink in courage and likewise to report all that you witness. I wish, also, that you and deployed Americans remain active in shaping politics that would otherwise be distracted and led astray.

I'm rested and raring to go now. :)

May God bless you abundantly.
