And yet he and pretty much every person who has ever been elected to the office has been called 'president-elect' from the moment popular votes have been counted. Yeah, "presumptive president-elect" would be a better descriptor, but my point is that we cannot pin the mistaken use of the term on David Axelrod.
I do know the difference. What concerns me more is that you and I may both be mistaken in thinking that we are still a republic.
Yeah, I do think it’s a little odd to have the sign.
Now you are very very right about that. I am afraid that too many people are under the assumption we are a democracy and just by their belief, make it so.
OK. That makes sense to me... Your audacity has always been inspirational, my friend!
Do you recall the media referring to Bush#2 that way after the vote counting/fabrications stopped in Flordia? The point I’m trying to raise is that Axelrod is a practiced astroturfer. By constantly hammering the public wigth this inflated image of ‘president-elect’ as if he is in fact now the president and Bush is merely in his way, Axelrod is setting up an extortionist dream, to hold the nation in ‘blackmail’ with Kenayan style violence to occur if this affirmative action poseur is not promoted to the position he demands and appears to be forging his way into. The media is emphasizing the phrase beyond the traditional pomp, for a reason. The next phase, if the SCOTUS in fact moves the issue out of conference into full hearing, will be for the media to hint then insinuate that violence will sweep the Republic if this ‘president-elect’ is not installed according to ‘the will of the people’. Watch for it. They—the sycophantic media—are fully predictable because they are so completely transmogrified now into the fifth column enemy of the Constitution.

It gets worse.
Today BIDEN addressed OBAMA as “Mr. President” on national TV while standing behind a podium with a non-existant “The Office of President-Elect” placard still posted on it for the benefit of TV viewers.
Incidentally, Astroturfing was exactly the way Vietnamese Communist HO CHI MINH first started his move to Communize all of Vietnam, and then S.E. Asia, after World War II.
Which ended up bringing on a most horrid:

I'd say that the more likely astroturfing is the common use of the suggestion that there will be mass riots if the Supreme Court declares Obama ineligible.
I see this in all the articles now, meant to imply that the grass-roots people will rise up in anger and riot if the SCOTUS doesn't just go along with the plan. Is there any actual evidence that the people will do this, or are they just trying to give the impression that people will riot in order to sway the court into acquiescing on Obama?

It would not surprise me though, if there were. That is certainly no reason to ignore the Constitution and damn the consequences. If they riot, the are punished.
Excellent, thank you.
How about the newly invented “Office of the President Elect” with its special seal?
Once Bush v. Gore was decided Bush was commonly and regularly referred to as “president-elect” as the honeymoon every new president gets set in. Every other presidential candidate that wins the election is also commonly and often referred to as “president-elect”.
Like it or not, Obama is president-elect and Bush is on his way out as probably the first presidential paraplegic duck I’ve ever seen in my years.
Yes, it’s irritating. But that’s the way it is. He won the election and he’ll be the next president. That’s the way it is in America. That’s the way it’s been in America for 232 years.
Media-driven at this point, I believe. What Obammy's doing is supplying the trappings of the presidency as quickly as he can to get the folks used to living with the idea he IS president already.
Yes, he's moving at flank speed to get things done, even naming his cabinet today. And that little trick of having the appointees gather on stage to acknowledge their appointments with all the flags in the background was their way of genuflecting their king -- giving him credence to act as though his election was already set in stone and irreversible.
Excellent post. Couldn’t have said it any better myself.
That is the sad truth of the matter and cannot be denied.
(Thank you!)
