Democrats have lost the right to petition for fair treatment, for the same reason the boy who cried wolf was eventually no longer believed.
Here’s the Griffin rule:
No stupidity, please!
The Supreme Court is the ultimate decider in modern America.
No sane Republican (or other American) should allow Democrats to control the Supreme Court if Republicans (and others) legally can prevent it.
America has been kicked around by a leftist Supreme Court since FDR’s time.
When it’s time to set things judicially right, we’ll do what we might that is right.
Honestly, you think he HASN'T been planning for this? I'm sure he and his team have a slate of candidates drawn up and private discussions are well underway. There's no point for Trump to tip his hand in public now and stir up the hornet's nest of opposition at this point.
That's the good news... The bad news would be that it occurred AFTER the latest census was implemented...
“If there is a SCOTUS vacancy next year and @senatemajldr carries through on his extraordinary promise to fill it-despite his own previous precedent in blocking Garland-it will tear this country apart.”
So will CW2.
Yep...Axelrod is a pompous jerk, a legend in his own mind.
3 months would be a long time to survive with this disease at any age,
never mind a frail woman over 80.
2020 ..... what about the rest of 2019.
What will the women of the US do when Barrett is put up there for confirmation. Oh the horror...
That fact is lost on people like him and those like him, as they think they are insulated from such events and their outcomes.
“it will tear this country apart”
This country is already torn apart. It’s been coming apart for nearly half a century.
As the pimple of leftism is squeezed more-tightly, the oozing content gets more-unsightly.
bkmk
The demand of the Left is going to be “Merrick Garland or ELSE!” - this call for “bipartisanship” from people who have been in a hate-fueled, spittle-throwing tantrum for the last two years. Sorry, folks, that sort of behavior has consequences. And what is most amusing about their attitude is that not one of them will budge an inch on anything else in trade. Unlimited funding for The Wall? Deportation of illegals? Defunding Planned Parenthood, NPR, and PBS? Nope, not a chance, you get nothing, just give us our supreme court justice or else. That isn’t even politics, it’s the intransigence of spoiled brats.
Sorry, dems, President Trump is not going to kowtow to your wishes....

If the GOP should delay nominating a Supreme Court Justic till after the election we would see a Democrat turnout that would set new records for sure....
You’re absolutely right.
The Dem party now of far left liberals and other radicals don’t even consider bipartisanship, it’s their way or the highway. Period!
Fortunately it looks like many are getting fed up with them on many different issues, we’ll soon see.
I am sooo hoping she goes one way or the other in say Jan,2020.
The Donald nominates a very conservative very young woman.
Then Mitch sends the nomination up in say march sending the dems in to meltdown mode.
Gotta get more popcorn and some beer.
Lincoln was not a hypocrite. He hated slavery and he freed the slaves. Have you read the Lincoln Douglas debates or seen a re-enactment? Lincoln also hated war and seeing the nation torn apart, and when the decision was his to make, he was very conflicted and torn. Nonetheless, this man who hated slavery issued the emancipation proclamation and ended slavery.
Thus, there is no hypocrisy, just great mental anguish because of the cost to the nation.
(It is interesting to note that the elitist snobs of Lincoln’s day hated him as much as the elitist snobs of today hate Trump.)
When has the Biden rule ever been followed?
2016 - No - Obama nominated Merrick Garland (hearings not held)
1988 - No - Kennedy - possibly this one doesn’t count, since the vacancy went back to 1987.
1975 - Stevens - Vacancy Nov 1975 - just under a year before the election - possibly doesn’t count.
1972 - Rehnquist & Powell - possibly these don’t count either - confirmations actually December 1971 - vacancies go back to Sept 1971.
1968 - No - LBJ nominated Fortas for CJ
