We have ‘sacrificed’ enough- there are 20,000 gun laws already o n the books which only serve to make it much harder for gun owners to own and use guns for self protection, and a whopping 300,000 statutes conferring guns on the books- These laws and statutes make it far more dangerous for law abidign citizens, and give criminals the upper hand- over and over aND over again!

The way to deal with the problem of occasional shootings of children by SOBs would be SOB laws. Make each one’s biological, present parent pay for it. Not the stepparent or boyfriend, who has no influence, but the present parent who spoiled another Machiavellian psychopath. Other loose, free and easy parents of illegitimate monsters would then think twice before allowing their monsters to acquire firearms.
Also remember that there were 108,000 drug overdose deaths in 2021, and there are more than 330 million people in the USA. Perspective...

Swipe ID, checks for anything that wouldn’t allow someone to purchase, done. No chance of “lying”, no possibility of the FBI creating a database (like everyone knows they are doing), FFL records would still be kept, although there should be something done about bATFezyx abuse. This should apply to NFA weapons as well, everyone know they make it as difficult as possible and it should be instant. Swipe ID, pay the tax, that should be the end of it.

Columbine killers, I believe used a straw purchaser, as did another mass shooter.
Sandy Hook killer murdered his mother and stole her rifle.
The Texas church shooter passed a NICS check because the Air Force screwed up.
How would any of the proposed laws stopped any of these?

Just from a practical sense, why would you create a whole new set of laws and try to enforce “no gun zones” in 3,800,000 square miles (the size of the US) when you can enforcing existing “no gun zones” in schools that take up 1000th of a percent in size?
No. First time I ever bought a gun at gun store, did FBI check and got approved. Had to take gun to Sheriff to register it and get fingerprinted (for CPL). No problem, got my CPL.
