We have been invaded and conquered along the supposed border with Mexico. Our military is deployed in places where it is illegally present or to make money for the connected.

Patriotic (and perhaps a bit naive) young people join the military to defend the country. Then they end up as sitting ducks in Jordan, Iraq, etc. It’s both crazy and sad.

Naive is right. Naive and mislead. They're not properly informed as to which country they're meant to be defending. And, yes, that is very sad. Craven exploitation always is.

If a bad guy wants to inflict major causalities then it can be done with off the shelf stuff you can buy today.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Which is why U.S. law enforcement and the military need rules of engagement that authorize the immediate killing of anyone observed or otherwise confirmed to have engaged in life-threatening acts against American citizens anywhere in the world.

War with Iran for Israel? No thanks.

Iran can target & destroy every American base in the region, with many thousands of American serviceman.

It would drive the price of oil sky high and wreck our economy.

And make Iran a Chinese/Russian vassal state, which is bad for us.

Oh, and don’t dare complain about it. You don’t want to be called an isolationist.

One doesn't even have to "complain" about it. Nowadays, merely pointing out the facts of the matter is sufficient to evoke denunciation from the GAE supporters, the "endless war" enthusiasts, and the numb-nut "American patriot" cohort.

We have troops in Jordan too? Where don’t we have troops?

As far as I can tell, we don't have troops in Russia or China (yet), but it's only the start of 2024 and Biden's polling numbers aren't completely hopeless.

Why do we still have bases in Germany, Italy and Japan? Didn't they learn their lessons in 1945, and isn't everyone responsible dead now?

“Just don’t overshoot with the EMP device and hit a passenger jet. That sounds like a Simon Bar Sinister invention.”

No, I’m sure some genius level engineer has the technical ability to direct the EMP beam to hit only the target. And due to altitude, accidently hitting a passenger jet would only be possible if the jet was taking off or landing near the drone... so there’s that.

Why do we have an “outpost in Jordan?”

Because Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein has commanded it.

Didn't someone say some mission was accomplished? When I accomplish my missions, I go on to other things and don't hang around....

1) American weapons cost a great deal more than weapons made by anyone else, and quality or capability of the weapons is not involved in this. Salary levels are.

2) The Houthis do not need a huge amount of Iranian funding to build these weapons themselves. The weapons need not have come from Iran or Russia or anywhere. They are cheap. They are effective. They can be built locally.

3) Why is Europe not providing all, repeat, all the forces for the Red Sea and Suez Canal? Not just token forces. All of them. The US has no reason to be there to be a target and create some sort of Gulf of Tonkin excuse to be involved.

4) Iran has the #2 natural gas reserves in the world. Almost 3X the US reserves, and at current production the US will go through its total in about 12 years. Yes, more will be found, but the VAST majority of what can be found has already been found. If the intention is to attack and conquer Iran in order to steal their nat gas, say so. Walk in front of a microphone and announce the situation and what is to be done.

5) If you can’t get the votes to support stealing their nat gas, then why in hell are you making an enemy of them, when you will need their nat gas that soon?

freedom of the seas - the right of merchant ships to move freely on the seas in peace or war without interference except in territorial zones.

If we can't stop the Houthis from interfering with Suez Canal commerce, it might be the end of the U.S. hegemony, thanks to Joe Biden.

Note that the US military does not disclose the number of troops in situations of combat. Also, some relatively small bases have large numbers of local civilian employees, but some are just protection for diplomats. US military presence around the world is actually difficult to evaluate, except it is far too large.
