That's why the French have their own arms industry. Even though it is probably cheaper (and better quality) to buy from from US.

Having worked for Israel’s equivalent of GE I can attest that Israel does not need anything the US gives it. They produce everything they need domestically with the exception of some high-ticket items. This little tiff will be overcome by the next presidency, or in a backroom deal and they’ll be back to getting American planes. The cost to the US of forcing them to buy from, say, France, would be too high. The reason US planes are relatively cheap is we build so many of them. Cut down the number by even a few and the price charged to our military would skyrocket. Biden is making political noise, but it won’t mean squat in terms of sales in the long run. Can you imagine if a bunch of senators and representatives find out a Biden policy is costing their states and districts jobs and, thus, votes?
Why would anyone trust the US as an ally?
