To be honest, didn’t they invent mathematics? Thought it was mostly the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Archimedes is considered one of the three greatest math people who ever lived. Especially important was the Greek innovation of putting the subject into a theoretical footing, typified by Euclid's Elements.
