After receiving the disclaimer from Merchan, the jury has departed the courtroom, stage right.
Merchan tells jury that they will work til 4:30 tomorrow and if they have to go beyond that they will go day by day for Thursday and Friday.— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
Steinglass closes: “In the interest of justice for the people of the State of New York, I ask that you find the defendant guilty.”
Merchan says he will give the jury instructions tomorrow, not tonight. Tells them we will come in at 10am tomorrow as we worked late tonight.— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
I wish I could believe that. If there is one Trumpkin on that jury, it will mean there’s no possible way any verdict can be reached. Because it doesn’t matter how persuasive, accurate and stunningly effective the prosecution was. That person is there to screw them & save Trump.— Catriona Blain (@catriona_b) May 28, 2024
Steinglass makes another joke about whenever this summation finally ends, but this time does not get any smiles or laughs from the jury.— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
A juror put his head in his hands, and just shook it east-to-west. You could interpret that as either reacting to Steinglass’ Closing Argument or that he is exhausted and wants this to end. I see that as the later as it wasn’t connected to anything Steinglass said that was salacious or or obviously criminal. — Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
President Trump has reentered the courtroom, as the Soros funded DA is still in the courtroom. Merchan is seated.
Merchan tells Steinglass that the jury needs to leave by 8pm, so as we are approaching 8pm, have a colleague hand you a note that you need to wrap it up.
Awaiting…— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
Fox News is reporting that the prosecution is 5 hours in their closing argument. They're trying to sell a case they don't have and they're going to be driving the jury crazy with boredom. The jury wants this thing done and the prosecution is holding them up.— R T (@RDog861) May 28, 2024
Merchan sustains only his third objection by the Trump Defense of this Iliad of a Closing Argument, then he sustains a fourth objection. Now Merchan says that now is a good time to take our final break of the day (he meant evening).
Jury is dismissed temporarily.
Blanche is objecting to this line of argument about Stormy Daniels and her security and how there is no link between President Trump and the security that Stormy Daniels has used. He continues that it’s extremely prejudicial.
Steinglass now saying that this was something they agreed upon earlier. Cites the People vs. Edwards case.
Merchan says that Steinglass does not need to go further with this considering the last 4 hours (Merchan is short an hour as it’s been 5 hours…and counting). Objection sustained
ADA Steinglass going through text messages between GLOAT Michael Cohen and Pecker, as well as Davidson.
It looks from my vantage point that two of the jurors may have temporarily dozed off in the last couple minutes.— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) May 28, 2024
“So I just finished speaking at the Libertarian Convention and President Trump spoke right after me.
This was amazing!
No other President in US history, to my knowledge, has ever shown up to another party’s political convention, openly asked for their endorsement, and just really hit the ground running.
Well done President Trump.
I think you won the hearts and minds of a whole lot of Libertarians out there. And a whole lot of other Americans.
