[Catholic Caucus] So It Begins: Chicago’s Fight for the Mass of the Ages So It Begins: Chicago’s Fight for the Mass of the Ages The following article was written by a laywoman from Midwestern America.Bagpipes sounded on State Street, and a truck with flashing images of the Mass of the Ages rolled by. We stood shoulder to shoulder or knelt on the sidewalk and prayed the Rosary with Holy Name Cathedral looming large behind us. Men held signs aloft for the traffic to read: “Cardinal Cupich: Why are you punishing faithful Catholics?” It was the First Sunday of February.Over...

[Catholic Caucus] Climate of “Fear and Espionage” in Francis’ Vatican here is a climate of – quote – “fear and espionage” in Pope Francis’ Vatican, the senior Vaticanista Marco Tosatti wrote on his famous blog on Sunday. Tosatti points out that Pope Francis eliminates everybody who has the courage to formulate some legitimate criticism, or uses his court journalists to discredit them. Tosatti refers to the April Canonical Accusation of Catholic scholars who indicted Francis of heresy. Vatican Insider, a pro-Francis outlet belonging to the Italian oligarch press, accused the signatories of being people in pension or without a particular...

America's founding document might be too politically incorrect for Facebook, which flagged and removed a post consisting almost entirely of text from the Declaration of Independence. The excerpt, posted by a small community newspaper in Texas, apparently violated the social media site's policies against hate speech. Since June 24, the Liberty County Vindicator of Liberty County, Texas, has been sharing daily excerpts from the declaration in the run up to July Fourth. The idea was to encourage historical literacy among the Vindicator's readers. The first nine such posts of the project went up without incident. "But part 10," writes Vindicator...

Al Baghdadi was among the prisoners released in 2009 from the U.S.´s now-closed Camp Bucca near Umm Qasr in Iraq, The Telegraph reports. It is unclear why the U.S. let the merciless al Qaeda leader slip away, however, one theory is that al Baghadadi was granted amnesty along with thousands of other detainees because the U.S. was preparing to pull out of Iraq.
