Fifty-seven percent of Democrat voters would oppose Congress certifying the 2024 election if former President Donald Trump wins, a Rasmussen Reports poll found Monday. The poll asked likely voters: “Some Democrats in Congress have said that if Trump wins this year’s election, they will vote against certifying the election results because of Trump’s role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Do you support or oppose Democrats refusing to certify the election results if Trump wins?” 57 percent of Democrats would oppose certification. Nearly two-thirds of “liberals” said they would oppose certification. However, Democrats do not form the majority of...

On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) said that the Build Back Better reconciliation bill was “Bernie Sanders’ bill” and that there was only one Democrat who was willing to oppose spending trillions of dollars with high inflation. Toomey stated, “I mean, I give Joe a lot of credit, the amount of abuse and flack he has taken from some of his colleagues, from the left wing all over America. It’s really pretty shocking when you think about it, here’s one Democrat in the United States Senate, one Democrat, who thinks maybe...

'Pompeo is a hawkish ideologue'The far-left J Street lobby announced that it opposes CIA Director Mike Pompeo's nomination for Secretary of State and urged Senators to scuttle appointment. "We oppose Pompeo’s nomination and urge Senators to vote against his confirmation," said J Street. "Pompeo is deeply ill-suited to manage US foreign policy and, in particular, the future of the JCPOA nuclear agreement with Iran." "Even in an administration known for its fundamental hostility to diplomacy, Pompeo stands out as a hawkish ideologue and an extreme advocate for the use of military force," continued the statement. "He called for the use...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A treaty governing the high seas is all but dead in the Senate as two Republican senators announced their opposition Monday, giving conservative foes the necessary votes to scuttle the pact. Sens. Rob Portman of Ohio and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire — both mentioned as possible running mates for likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney — said they had serious concerns about the breadth and ambiguity of the Law of the Sea treaty and would oppose it if called up for a vote. The Constitution requires two-thirds of the Senate — 67 votes — to ratify...

by John HillStand With Arizona Party and ideological divisions are roiling America. Battles over the budget, taxes, jobs and energy have crippled Washington. But there is one issue that people across the political spectrum agree on: they oppose giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens. According to the latest poll numbers, 69% of Americans oppose subsidizing those here illegally with in-state tuitions rates. 73% of Republicans oppose it - as one would expect. An even stronger 74% of Independents oppose it. But the same position resonates across ideological and ethnic lines too. 58% of Democrats oppose it too, as do...

The chief of the secretive US special operations command has lobbied against the release of names of American commandos killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan, officials said Tuesday. Thirty US troops were killed on Friday when their Chinook helicopter was shot out of the sky in a remote Afghan valley, but in a break with Pentagon practice, the identities of the dead service members have not been released. The dead included 22 members of the elite Navy SEAL commandos and three Air Force special operators, and senior officers overseeing the special forces are reluctant to publicly identify the slain...

In the wake of the recent growing calls to release Jonathan Pollard, Attorney Marc Zell, co-chairman of the Republican Jewish Coalition chapter in Israel, claimed surprisingly on Thursday that there are other American Jews who do not support Pollard’s release. He did not claim his views are the policy of the Republican party. “As an Israeli Jew I’m obviously sorry he’s still in prison, but as an American Republican and an American citizen I do not support Pollard’s release,” Zell told Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew-language news service. “Knowing the issues inside out and knowing the background, what he did was very...

As President Barack Obama prepares for Tuesday's State of the Union address -- considered by many to be the real kickoff of his 2012 presidential campaign -- a group of vocal progressive activists have launched what they promise is an aggressive campaign to fight his re-election. The group of 150 liberal activists, authors, and academics -- including Code Pink's co-founder Medea Benjamin and author Daniel Ellsberg -- Tuesday released a petition announcing early opposition to Obama's re-nomination by Democrats. Many of the names included are Greens and indies, not necessarily Democrats themselves, but they said they intend to "actively seek...

(To see survey question wording, click here.) Those votes also appear to be driving factors in the GOP’s consistent lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot. As in all major government takeovers of private companies in Venezuela, President Hugo Chávez declared that seizing beer-and-food giant Polar's facilities here would mark another victory for the poor in the country's march toward socialism. "Why is it that Polar has so much money?" Chávez asked in a February speech ... Except this time, the president's plans went badly awry, ... Polar [fought] back by taking its case to the Supreme Court, [and] its employees have risen up, too, rallying in opposition to Chávez's edict and holding all-night vigils to prevent a takeover. ... employees said they oppose the government...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Half of Americans reject President Barack Obama's lawsuit against Arizona's controversial immigration law, with only a third supporting the move, according to a Gallup poll released Friday. With key midterm elections just around the corner in November, the Obama administration is facing strong support for the law, which makes it a crime to be in the state -- bordering Mexico -- without proper immigration papers. "Emotions run high on both sides of the issue," Gallup said. "The substantial majority of those in favor and those opposed to the lawsuit say they feel strongly about their position." It...

The heads of the Army, Marines, Air Force, and Navy oppose the current amendment to repeal "don't ask, don't tell." Senator John McCain's office just released letters from the chiefs of the armed services, as well as a statement from the senator urging Congress to let the military complete its study before taking legislative action. “I cannot over emphasize the importance of completing the comprehensive review prior to taking any legislative action," says McCain. "Our military is currently engaged in two wars and we need to have a true assessment of the impact of repealing ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ on...

Only 5% think diplomacy and sanctions can stop Iran, AJC poll finds. Although a slim majority of American Jews supports the Obama administration’s handling of US-Israel relations, a larger majority opposes any Israeli concession on Jerusalem as part of a peace deal, a survey released over the weekend by the American Jewish Committee revealed. Fifty-five percent of respondents said they approved of the administration’s policy regarding US-Israel relations. But 61% also said Israel should not be “willing to compromise on the status of Jerusalem as a united city under Israeli jurisdiction” as part of the framework of a peace settlement.
