I don't believe I've ever seen that picture before, it is beautiful. Thanks.
The Falling Man. Do you remember this photograph? (The man who jumped from World Trade Towers)
You're welcome. As an ex-New Yorker I have many fond memories of watching WTC going up, dining in Windows on the World, and working in Lower Manhattan.
It wasn't suicide it was murder.
:(
It would show that not a nameless, faceless, nobody was photographed falling 1,000 feet to his death. A death made possible by fanatical and brutal murderous cowards. A name, with a face and a likeness, makes it more personal. More real. More concrete. He becomes the embodiment of the reason radical Islam and all who support, protect, nurture, tolerate and practice it must be eradicated.
We don't know (and will never know) that it was suicide. These poor people could have been holding on to the last possible structural component of their floor on the building -- and it could have been steadily growing hotter and hotter, until it was impossible to hold on to; or they could have escaped to the last possible ledge, and an advancing fire could have surged forward. Either of these could have forced a person to let go -- not that they chose to jump.
I'd like to think that choosing the manner of death was an act of defiance to the architects of their murders.
I just went back and read several of the threads from that morning. As always- great reporting by FReepers.
I can look back at major events in my life and remember them fondly, or sadly..but 9/11 is really like nothing else. I don't so much remember it, as I do re-live it..
Nothing has been the same since.

Sometimes that is just what you need. Thanks. :-)
Some of the people mentioned in the article spoke about suicide. Frankly, I had never even thought of it in those terms. I don't think it is suicide if you are trapped between a window and a fire.
Just so.
Interesting that you post the lyrics to that song. Every time I have heard that song since that day I always think of 9/11.
A couple years after I was talking to an old pen pal of mine from Germany. He was on his honeymoon and came out of the shower to see his wife watching what he at first thought was an Arnold Schwarzenager movie. Then he found out what it really was. He said his company lost one person in the tower. A co-worker was supposed to be having a seminar that morning and couldn't make it because he was sick. Another co-worker volunteered to take over and died in the tower.
