Native Texan and Catholic, former liberal Democrat left behind after the party scooted to the left in 1972. Voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976, mistakenly thinking he was a liberal Southerner. Found out quickly he was a Southerner who was a liberal and despite his navy background, a pacifist and despite his demeanor, a hater. He fits nicely in the present party, which is out of its mind.
