Mountain Brook High School graduate Natalee Holloway went missing May 30 during a senior trip to Aruba.

Helloooooooooo. This thread is not about you and what you would do or not do. I hardly think you're 18, oh sage one.
I'm not positive, but I think it was said that he could get 20 years but be out in 5 years. I'm also not sure if this is because he is a minor, so these are just some rough numbers.
I have to agree TexKat. Especially since we hear so much about how people come to these islands and just don't want to leave. I have seen that posted in many places. Seems to be why no one on the island was initially too concerned. They figured she would show up in a day or two. If they checked to see if she made definitive plans to leave it would help disspell the idea that she didn't want to leave.
Actually, I'm assuming that the authorities know more than they've revealed and may be doing a fair job, but they have no business criticizing Beth Twitty. I honestly believe that not for Beth, two innocent security guards would still be in prison and a young, probably guilty, Dutch youth would be free. While I'm not convinced the Kalpoe brothers are guilty of murder, or are even accessories, I do think they know what would help Beth find her daughter. They need to drop the "poor vicitimized me" routine and talk to the family.
Pardon me, but two days isn't squat. Would you entrust you child with a stranger you met two days prior in a foreign country and had a brief conversation with?
The question is not whether I would entrust my "child" but whether the "child" was making conscious decisions and whether she trusted her ride...Would you trust your child with Bill Clinton, President of the US before you knew of his shenanigans?
All one can do is be careful and trust their instincts, experience and training. Murderers and rapists many times know their victims and put on a good front or use props to aid in their schemes...
Her parents did say she was naive, so maybe that explains a lot.
That's news to me...mom even said she had a talk with her before she left...
....Had she been drugged, would that make a difference? How OBVIOUS would it have been to a drugged person?
We don't KNOW that she was drugged. We DO know that she got into a car with 3 strange men, two that she didn't know at all and one that she knew at best from two days prior.
We don't know all the facts, it is possible she met the other two with Joran at an earlier time. It is likely she was drugged, but we just don't know. A drugged person likely will not have all their faculties to use good judgement. Is that their fault?
People make mistakes but they are still victims of predators.
Yes, they are, that is why they are advised to be aware and cautious of strangers when in foreign countries. To NOT travel alone. To use good judgment
Good judgement does not mean perfect judgement...People don't ask to get raped or murdered, they are victims of predators, most of whom are very adept at what they do to gain confidence of the victim..it happens to careful, educated older people all the time.."confidence men" date rape happens all the time..should we blame the victim? I don't. Look at Jorans parents and friends all saying what a nice guy he is, should we believe them? His father a Justice employee, was a judge in training..where are the red flags? A rapist/murderer can be an angel 99.9% of the time before they go whacko...few people at age 17 have a long track record that is publicly available...
"Anything I've said that is critical of their recent behavior is not meant unkindly, at all."
Snort. Yeah, right.
Thanks for asking...he was eventually located and returned home. He was being held (not legally) at a remote location, some kind of a farm where he did manual labor. The story was that he was accused of some kind of drug trade wrongdoing and/or involvement with one of the local females. I never felt that I got the whole story but I did believe he was being held against his wishes...he would have never let his parents go so long without contact.
He he. I think she's kept busy these days spinning in aruba. Them crazy dutch folk.
Just because someone disagrees wit hyou doesn't mean that they are leftists. In fact, I thought conservatives believed in personal responsibility and leftists wanted to always lay blame onto others.
The same people defend the closed, unaccountable left leaning aruban govt., or the lying obstructing brothers, yada yada yada.
Would you like us to invade and overturn their system because you don't like their legal system? Is it ok for other nations/kingdoms to invade the US for that reason as well? We may not like their system, but it is their system and we have to deal with it. People are warned about knowing the laws of other countries when you prepare to enter them.
Now that you say it, I think I remember that too. I wonder if he gets any leniency due to Papa Sloot's position...? It seems like there isn't much to parenting on Aruba. Or maybe 18 is the drinking age.
While I personally don't believe that Natalee is still alive, it can't be ruled out. Just the thought that she's out there waiting to be rescued would be reason enough to drive me until I found her. I think that that possibility, however remote, could serve to restrict what the Twittys say publicly. And it makes the Kaipoe's refusal to talk with them all the more reprehensible.
Stealth troll!
Quit telling me to go back to the beginning. I have read ALL these threads. I have read ALL the posts. And yes, I do sometimes ask questions because with so many rumors abounding I try to make sure something is accurate. Course when I do ask, I get a 'get caught up', 'go back and read the threads', BS.
I've already shown and posted that TAXIS or CABS have lit lights on top, plus the first two letters on their plates indicating such. I can understand her not looking at the plate, but, not looking at the car??? Especially the top?? And what is whith the Aruba! Aruba! that her friends said she called out? With the windows so darn dark, how did they see Natalee?
We are right back to leaving the group and not paying attention to one's surroundings and not paying attention to the car. With a group behind her and a group ahead of her, all she had to do was yell out! She'd have had two groups aiding her.
"I'm not positive, but I think it was said that he could get 20 years but be out in 5 years. I'm also not sure if this is because he is a minor, so these are just some rough numbers."
Yeah, 20 years is about the max I've heard under Dutch law. But as long as it wasn't premeditated, and he's considered a minor it could be more like 5.
I think so, too.
Defending leftists tactics is a lefty thing to do. Attacking victims is a lefty thing to do. Period. Conservatives don't do either.
Hellooooooooooooooooo. If you had read ALL the posts you would know that I am not the only one on these threads that has commented on their own experiences and what they would or wouldn't have done!
But, you're one of a few who compare your own behavior with Natalee's, so as to slam her.
It's been pointed out to you that not all taxis DO have lites on top. The witnesses stated Natalee got into a cab. They said she was going back to HI. She was not one to change her mind at the last minute and go elsewhere. They said she leaned out the window and yelled. LOL! Go back and reread, or go start a safety thread.
You are fast wearing out your welcome here.
On SM there are posters, some of which are MB students and I think also some of their parents.
The last I saw which was yesterday, those that were on on SM were not for the boycott of Aruba and was not for the protest, etc.
The following is a post by one of the MB students on SM.

I'm not back for long... I was just glancing over some posts, trying to refrain from saying anything for fear of being attacked again, but I would like to say once and for all that none of us who are closely tied to case are supporting the "banning Aruba" sentiments being spread currenty. We don't have a problem with the country, we have a problem with the people who took our friend. All we want is for her to return safely as soon as possible.
Please don't attack Aruba or its citizens who have been very supportive and instrumental to the search. I thank these people and am apalled that people would ridicule those who are trying to help.
I also do not feel that Beth should be attacked or faulted in any way whatsoever. She is one of the most amazing people I've ever met and it hurts me that people feel it justifiable to attack an already horribly victimized woman. She is not attacking anyone. She just wants her daughter back. I'd ask those who would say hurtful things about her to please think about how you would act in her situation... I think if you really took tim eto place yourself in her shoes you would see how noble her character truly is.
Thank you and please cintinue to pray for Natalee!
God Bless![/b]
When did he receive this?
What's up w/that insurance company?
What is bogus Howlin?
That she was a runaway; it was thrown out there to divert attention from the crappy job the Aruban police were and are doing.
You took the font right off my keyboard.
Neither do I.
Geez, what cry babies the arubans are.
"Does anyone know what the penalty might be if they can pin it on JVDS?"
If I remember correctly, they do not have a death penalty and their life sentence is 40 years. Hope I am wrong!
EXACTLY why a person should NOT trust someone they have known all of two days! Thank you for helping me make my point!!
Her parents did say she was naive, so maybe that explains a lot.
That's news to me...mom even said she had a talk with her before she left...
Correction. It was her uncle that said she was naive.
Natalees naive, her uncle says For all her activities and achievements, relatives described Holloway as having an almost childlike side, too.Natalees naive. She hasnt dated a lot. She doesnt party a lot, said uncle Paul Reynolds. Holloway attends church regularly and wouldnt ever run away, he said.
40 yrs. in incarceration,
is life for 17 yr. old
joran.
He'll be an old dude when
he gets out.
I'll bet the ranch, he's
already having a hard time
in jail.
Gotta be suffering partying
withdrawls....like an addict.
Hope so! LOL
I think the leniency was due to his age. Some countries don't have a drinking age at all.
That's a good point and underscores the likelihood that she had been given rohypnol or some other compliance inducing drug.
EXACTLY why a person should NOT trust someone they have known all of two days! Thank you for helping me make my point!!
No, that's not your point at all. You wish to slam her. It's after the fact, dearie.
Do try to remember that her mother still claims she was kidnapped!
My thoughts, too. I truly hope that someone is at least exploring that avenue and doing some checking around. I would hate 5 years from now for Mrs. H/T to wonder if she should have considered that possibility, if they aren't now.
And it makes the Kaipoe's refusal to talk with them all the more reprehensible.
I hadn't heard that they refused to talk to Natalee's parent's, only that Deepak had spoken with Greta off camera. It seems though that I recall their lawyer asking them not to give any interviews because of the ongoing investigation. When was it announced that they refused to talk to the Twitty's?
I have thought from the getgo that she had been given a drug. Hubs and I had the same initial reaction. It doesn't fit that she'd 'go out on a limb' like that, on her last night there, especially.
I can buy that she used bad judgment and may have let her hair down - and her guard - a tad more than usual, given the celebratory nature of the trip.
The rest is on that monster's head. He's lucky I'm not NH's mom. I wouldn't be as nice as she has been.
It wouldn't be the first time.
Nor I.
I would have been bordering on jail time long ago. LOL
Yep. And it is apparently the MO of date rape guys to pull a stunt on the last night before a girl leaves the island. Makes sense on several levels.
As far as the crappy job the Aruban police did. True. There is a lot that can be said of how the initial contact with LE, the Twittys and the VDSs was handled. But how many hours does it take before steps are taken in the US before one is considered a missing person, etc.? What is one of the first questions asked when one reports someone (especially a teenager) missing in the US?
I've started scrolling down to see whose name is at the end before I read their post, so I can skip it if necessary; thus far, contentious, abrasive people have added nothing to the thread
Not many if suspected kidnapping is involved.
I agree. Didn't Sloot say that Natalee came on to him? I'm wondering if at the casino when she asked him to meet her at Carlos & Charlie's, if ol' playboy Sloot the Younger, took that as a come on and invite. Some of the women going there may be easy and he may have thought she was too, because of her invite. Not a smart thing to do. I'm not saying he was right, what I am saying is that he may have viewed that as leading him on. Remember, his best friend Jamie supposedly said that 'she deserved what she got' or something like that?
I think Sloot decided she had led him on. He was already at home, and returned to town because of her invitation. She may not have intended it to be taken the way he took it. I'm pretty sure she didn't. Being inexperienced to the bar scene though, she made a very bad mistake at the casino, in inviting him to meet her at C&C.
I doubt that she was drugged. Sloot didn't think he needed to drug her drink, she did after all invite him to meet her at C&C's. I do think that when she refused his advances that 'something bad happened'.
It's too bad there isn't an X option to just ignore someone....
There are some people on these threads determined to make sure Natalee and her mother are good and smeared.
I have to wonder why.
NOt always in countries like Aruba.
I do think she got in the car. Whether she was drugged or however, there came a point when we can reasonably surmise she was not with them willingly.
Unless of course you believe she "ran away" or whatever.
But make no mistake, third world countries have cabs that are cars with meters. I have been in them. And on the islands, very common.
Since it was assumed by some that Natalee was a run-a-way or was hiding out somewhere because she did not want to return home.
It was only "assumed" to be a runaway by people who had a vested interest in diverting this story away from what really happened.
You've about beaten that taxi thing to death; for all we know the person who said it misspoke.
Your pictures don't prove a thing.
A few of them even have the same typing styles.
I got that impression last night when Jug Twitty said that he would like to talk to the Kalpoes. I don't remember what he said all that well. Logically, if he would like to talk to the Kalpoe's and the Kalpoes were willing (their mother didn't particularly want them talking to Greta, so I would think she wouldn't want them to talk with Jug), then why aren't they talking? And the attorney of one brother threatened to sue the Twittys. Doesn't sound amenable to discussion to me.
Try not to feed the trolls.
I recall the experience you related and what you did. You were very fortunate.
PS, I hope Dennis falls apart and doesn't affect you or anyone else on the coastline.
