"Would you please direct me toward some evidence that my friends are supporting this guy?"

They SAID they support his actions. They SAID they think he is a hero. They aspire to his *bravery*.

"If you count a lack of condemnation as "support," then you have a problem understanding what constitutes support."

Again, you are either too lazy to actually read the thread or too dishonest to admit what you saw in it. Read the thread.

You were the first one to bring up the word in this thread, and you sure like to harp on it.

They ran on the Deomcrat ticket because the Republican ticket was all clogged up with creationists.

Thank you. I didn't know that. Where I live, school board elections are "non-partisan". Nobody has to declare which party they belong to, and trying to figure it out can be difficult. I am not used to being able to know up front which candidate is from which party. The only way to check is to check their list of endorsements.

You don't think that blowing people up is not terrorism? What is YOUR opinion on Eric Rudolph? We already know your buddies' praise of him.

I don't think discussions of terrorism are related to discussions about a loony professor who possibly got punched in the nose. Take your master baiting somewhere else.

Someone else, in post 461, brought it up all by himself. He praised terrorist acts. I DIDN'T BRING IT UP.

I'll take your silence on Rudolph as an affirmation that you too support his actions.

And stop bringing up your obsession with master baiting. It'll make you blind.

You brought up the word "terrorism" and haven't been able to it alone ever since post #461. You also brought up this Rudolph guy and dragged him through the thread, too. It is you who are prolonging an issue that has no bearing on a loony professor whose nose got bloodied. Like this loony professor, you'd like to bait Christians into the same moral quagmire you espouse. It ain't gonna happen.

"You brought up the word "terrorism" and haven't been able to it alone ever since post #461"

Because post 461 praises violence and terrorist acts. And NOBODY on your side has anything but praise for the statement.

"You also brought up this Rudolph guy and dragged him through the thread, too."

Because he is who the poster of 461 was praising, and the person that other creationists here have also praised. When someone praises terrorism, you're damn right I won't drop it.

"It is you who are prolonging an issue that has no bearing on a loony professor whose nose got bloodied."

I am not the one praising terrorism and violence. Look in the mirror Fester.

"Like this loony professor, you'd like to bait Christians into the same moral quagmire you espouse. It ain't gonna happen."

Nobody baited the poster of post 461 to write what he wrote. And nobody forced the others here to stick up for it and praise Rudolph. And nobody is stopping you from distancing yourself from the vile things that were said and praised here. I guess there is a reason for it; you approve of Rudolph's actions.

I am not convinced that it happened, but if it did, I expect a lot of crow to be eaten by those who are currently dancing in our virtual streets over this beating.

You're trying to have it both ways here: "If it happened, I'm going to gloat and gloat, but if it didn't, well, I'm covered there too because I'm skeptical."

Sorry, if you don't believe the guy is credible, then you should not have to qualify every statement mocking the oaf, especially considering that he's fine.

Take very careful note of his words, it wasn't "Well, it was scary, but I'm glad to be OK and I just hope they catch the thugs." It was "It's those right wingers" [that's you, bud, he's widened the net of blame] "and they won't believe me without seeing blood (and I wasn't going to pay some guy to do that to me, what do you think I am, crazy?) uh, and how can you not take my every utterance at face value? Can't you see, via this phone interview, that I have a boo boo?"

Even the title is misleading because "hospitalized" implies he was admitted. He was not, he was treated as an outpatient and released.

Who has condemned Rudolph and bombing abortion clinics on this thread? Not you. Not your buddies. They have praised him. They brought up bombing as a legitimate tactic. I didn't bring it up. That you have nothing at all negative to say about their statements or the actions of Rudolph says a lot. And none of it is good.

Who's gloating? I understand that all groups have scumbags in them. I have never associated them with all creationists, or tarred all creationists with this brutish brush.

What I have done is taken creationists to task for comments made on these boards, from gleefully cheering these scumbags to simply remaining silent and not condemning them. Posters here are responsible (and only responsible) for what they say and do on these boards.

If I'm qualifying, it's because I reserve judgment until the facts are in. Unlike the posters here who glorify this violence....

creationists to task

How do you know who they are or what they believe or whether or not they are trolls?

from gleefully cheering these scumbags

What scumbags?

to simply remaining silent and not condemning them.

Condemning whom? It is impossible to condemn that which does not exist.

Posters here are responsible (and only responsible) for what they say and do on these boards.

And yet you attempt to use their posts against others of their ilk, as you define ilk.

Yes, posters are responsible for what they say or in some cases refuse to say on these boards.

Anyone who rejoices in the beating of another human being because of a political difference deserves to be called on it, and those who refuse to condemn such a beating deserve to be called on that as well.

No, I never said that. I merely made the point of fact that one can say anything one pleases but will reap the consequences whether expected or unexpected. I never said the consequences were warranted, legal, or necessary. (p>If you disagree, then go shout "FIRE" in a crowded theater and see if you don't reap the consequences.

The topic we were discussing is post 461 when one of your creationist buddies said that blowing people up was just fine. I DIDN'T BRING IT UP. Nobody forced him to bring it up; nobody goaded him into it. He offered it up freely. That you refuse to deal with the post, and the subsequent posts that praised blowing people up, and specifically the actions of Eric Rudolph, says much about either your moral cowardice, or your moral depravity. You can't even bring it upon yourself to condemn the actions of terrorists.

By the way, do you consider Kansas University religious studies professor's "tirades against Christian fundamentalists" as political speech? I don't. Slander perhaps, hate speech perhaps, but not political speech. There's nothing political about it. What if his tirades advocated the extermination of all Jews, etc.? Is that political speech? What makes political speech different than any other speech? Just wondering.

No. You have been making post 461 your topic of choice. Once that post appreared you decided to railroad the thread into a discussion about terrorism. There are other threads to discuss terrorism. You can even start your own thread about Eric Rudolph and invite the rest of us to posit our opinions about the guy.

For the the time being I would simply like to know why you and your cheerleaders have refrained from criticizing this loopy professor for setting up a class dedicated toward the ridicule of people with different beliefs. I would also like to know how you fail to recognize the connection between his inflammatory remarks and the potential for physical recourse on the part of looopy fanatics.

Yes, posters are responsible for what they say or in some cases refuse to say on these boards.

Oh, great, now are the posting Nazis not only judging what is written, but what is not written.

Well let me get to that, because I have been really T.O.-ed at the "defenders of science" on the crevo threads. But when scientists make total asses of themselves, when science is perverted, when science is misused, or abused, they are nowhere to be found:

When textbooks read like manifestos and respected scientists tarnish the profession with their tarnished professions, there's nary a peep.

But when somebody, somewhere suggests that maybe there might be a hole or two in the theories to which many scientists cling to like a security blanket, well here comes the descending chorus.

Well, if evo is taught in the high schools, junior high schools or elementary schools in any way like earth science is taught by the textbook in the second link, then it is nothing more than religious dogma that is "taught" without any critical analysis or means by which the students can assess the claims.

If scientists care, really care, about science, then they should focus their energies on individuals who practice the art and who claim ownership of the scientific method for their pronouncements. Instead of merely treating ID like a member of the humanities (I contend that there is much more solid ID scholarship than virtually all of the humanities and social sciences. Of course, I think there is more scholarship at DeVry than in the humanities and social sciences.), they eagerly pounce upon it with a fury that has not been seen since the times of Galileo.

But I suppose attacks against science only matter when your grant dollars are at risk.

So, yes, I am willing to hold posters responsible for what they refuse to say.

But back to the case at hand: What beating?

Didn't see this (and [Vanity] usually means I won't) but let's look at post number 4 on the thread.

I wouldn't let my children by taught by an atheist. This is what you get.

So I would likely have agreed with much of the criticism, but there is no way I'm going to let a piece of bigotry like that slide, so we would have had a food fight instead.
