Then I agree with you 110%. That's what families are for...not governments.

BTW - I don't smoke pot.

Sure. If you live on planet Bizarro. Oh, I see, California. You DO live on planet Bizarro. Never mind.

Up is down, right is wrong, War is peace. There that'll make you feel better.

You should try it---it's great.

White women suddenly want to sleep with you, and you can rip out that jazz music like nobody's business. You feel like you can lift a thousand pounds in the air---with one hand. You can even jump off a tall building if you like, and then just start flapping your wings, and you'll soar like a bird.

WOW---good stuff!

We're not just trying to invoke Godwin's Law when we say "Smoking Nazis." We're actually referring to history, the first modern concerted government effort to wipe out smoking. But at least Hitler didn't think he could ban smoking in private establishments -- he was a wimp with no vision compared to the new Smoking Nazis.

There is an art to flying, or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss. —Douglas Adams,

Cartoon characters should also be aware that it is tremendously important not to look down. As long as you don't know there is no ground under your feet, you're good to go.

What the hell was that?

The stereotypical pusha man, Huggy Bear, as played by Snoop Dogg.

My point, poorly made, is that what you posted is correct. Most of these cats are standing around waiting for customers to come to them---they're not door-to-door Fuller Brush salesmen.

Did you know that Ronald Reagan called libertarianism the "heart and soul of conservatism"?

And how did he feel about pot?

Not that I haven't smoked it...many, many times. I'm just a tad too old to enjoy it. In college, I was known as "bongman".

And, due to your obvious condescension, I will inform you that WHILE smoking pot, I went to an Ivy league school, became a Class V whitewater kayaker, learned to play lead guitar and started and led a rock band, became a computer programmer - and made DAMN good money doing it, bought and paid for a house, became a MAster Gardener with over 1.5 acres of Shade Garden under cultivation, am an avid lepidopterist whose name is known worldwide for my work with moths, took care of my first wife who died of ALS, invented my own salable product, patented it, brought it to market and formed my own manufacturing company which now grosses almost 1 million annually, and am now working on becoming a fashion designer - all while smoking pot.

So, you can shove your "better than thou" attitude...cause YOU AIN'T.

Never got the hang of Jazz though....

In fact your post is EXACTLY what the article is talking about...but I'll bet you didn't even read it!!!

And how did he feel about pot?

Last week NewsMax publicized comments Ronald Reagan made in one of his radio broadcasts before he became president. (Reagan gave about 1,000 radio commentaries just before he became president.) After decades, the tapes have recently been released. In August 1979, Reagan dedicated one program to marijuana. While he warned of the many health risks, he did say, "If adults want to take such chances [using marijuana], that is their business." Soon after NewsMax ran the story we received a call from NORML, the Washington-based group that wants to legalize the drug. NORML had created controversy when it took out huge billboards of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and current New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, quoting their admission they both smoked pot. Bloomberg and Giuliani weren't chuckling and asked NORML to pull the ads. One person who was chuckling was Michael Reagan, the popular radio host and son of President Reagan. Mike saw the NewsMax story and said, "Of course Dad was for legalization." "He wasn't crazy," Reagan added, laughing, "He didn't want his kids in jail!"

"Show me the successful societies that tolerate legal and widespread recreational drug use."

The U.S. has done pretty well re alcohol, IMO. It was the prohibition of alcohol that caused all the crime.

Seems thats a job for you..

It's really not that hard, but since I made the claim, here's the straight dope:

dope
1807, Amer.Eng., "sauce, gravy," from Du. doop "thick dipping sauce." Extension to "drug" is 1889, from practice of smoking semi-liquid opium preparation. Meaning "foolish, stupid person" is older (1851) and may have a sense of "thick-headed." Sense of "inside information" (1901) may come from knowing before the race which horse had been drugged to influence performance. Dope-fiend is attested from 1896.
You might notice the relation since alcohol is sometimes referred to as "sauce" ("He's on the sauce").
