So you finally know what happens to Harry. All our questions are answered. Or not. What are your reactions? Whose death hurt the most? Do you want more, and about whom?

ROTFL!! Ripley was my first thought, too, when I read that. One of my all time favorite movie lines! And yeah, folks will be cheering for Molly in the last movie; the screenwriters will definitely HAVE to use that one!

I hope they keep it in as well. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that if the dialog is there at all, the word "bitch" will instead be substituted with the word "witch."

It is a kids movie after all, and if people on this thread are even afraid to spell out the word as it was used in the book, I can't imagine a kids movie actually using the word.

Oh, I think Snape hated HP. HP was a constant reminder of losing Lily.......He plotted with LV to murder James and Harry to get Lily to himself......the fact that Harry lived must have torked Snape..........it was a constant reminder of the lost Lily.

Oh, get the audio version, then. It’s actually an interesting story, it’s just hard to plod through while reading it. And having Alan Rickman read it makes it SO much better!

Once they'd been put in the protection program no one knew where they were, or even who they were.

Don't get me wrong though, highly enjoyed the book. Really didn't expect her to leave the door open for more books in the universe, and quite pleased she did.

I think it is more like The One Ring. Remember the often quoted line, "the wand chooses the wizard." So it sort of chooses when it is getting passed on by letting the wizard lose. Then again it makes sense that it is something other than a duel, based on the children's story. That was the whole moral of it, that a stand up fight is not the only way to die (or was it something about boast). If that is the case the Grindelwald must have let him win... but if that was the case would the duel be that famous? I guess so since both parties in the duel were already (in)famous by then.

I liked when the Centaurs, (with the exception of Firenze who had already said in Book One that he would set himself against evil even if it did mean standing alongside of men) decided to get onboard.

I believe it was because the Death Eaters started dissing them in the forest, like Dolores Umbridge did in OOTP.

Does it seem like, for an incredibly overbearing government agency, the Ministry of Magic shows remarkably little interest in investigating magical deaths?

When Dumbledore was young the Ministry was no more intrusive than our government was when your grandpa was a kid.

I think Snape disliked Harry, but I don’t think it was nearly as bad as he displayed in public. I think there was part of him that wanted to like Harry, sure Harry was a reminder of what he’s lost, but he was also a reminder of the good parts of knowing Lily. But given his position in the battle against Voldy Snape couldn’t let even the slightest affection for Harry show through, he had to publicly hate Harry with the every fiber. But I think that core that saw Harry as the last vestige of the only person he ever truly loved showed through on occasion, especially at the end when he wanted Harry to look at him, but even in little things throughout like protecting Harry during the Quidditch match in the first book, teaching Harry occlumency. I don’t think he ever actually like Harry, and I don’t think he ever could have in a different situation, but on some level I think he at least wanted to not hate Harry.

Seven year olds really shouldn’t be reading Deathly Hallows!!

Seven, probably not, but that's how old my oldest son was when he began reading the series. From the first book there have been scenes of fairly graphic violence. That's why I read all of the books before my son did--I wanted to know what he was going to be exposed to so we could discuss it together after.

My son is now nine and he finished Deathly Hallows last night (I finished it Saturday). He finds the dementors most frightening and was saddened by all the deaths, but he loved the book.
