So here I was - taking my daughter to school this morning (She is a high school sophomore) and she was telling me of a discussion she and the other kids were having about Black History Month.
One kid suggested that - to be fair - there should be a White History Month. He was quickly chastised; "Whites don't deserve a special history month due to the racial prejudices they've committed over the years". My daughter related some of the "Rosa Parks" types of incidents as evidence of why there should be no White History Month.
It was early. I was driving and had not yet had my first cup of coffee. And so I was speechless.

Excuse me, but aren’t you exhibiting the same racism that you are excusing whites of the past of committing?
It would need to be a White History decade, because of all of the accomplishments whites have contributed to Civilization.

Nobody deserves a special month. Just teach history.
I don’t think there should be a white history month, a black history month or a month for people with blonde hair and blue eyes.
They will tell you the standard line that blacks CAN’T be racists.
Well, If you fully buy into the oppressors/victims view of the world, the kids are absolutely right. Right now the leftist culture dominating the discussion buys into that view completely.
This attempt to divide people based on skin color is evil. Frankly, I would appreciate it if schools actually taught history instead of advocating racism.

I would have said: “Daughter, I have failed in my duties to see to it that you have a proper education”
and that, would be the best answer. Just teach history.
