President Obamas poll numbers are getting better every day. But one clear weakness remains in the public mind his performance in handling the U.S. economy.
The most unpopular element of his economic stewardship is the stimulus, officially titled "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act." It turned 3 years-old last week.
A new Pew poll finds 41 percent of Americans disapprove of the 2009 stimulus while 37 percent approve. In 2010, a CNN poll found three quarters of the public felt most of the stimulus was wasted and did not help the economy. Later in 2010 a Rasmussen poll found 56 percent opposed to any suggestion of a second stimulus.
The upcoming presidential election is likely to be a debate about the value of the stimulus. Before the rhetoric gets too hot, a simple question begs to be answered: Is there any evidence that the stimulus helped the economy?
As Sarah Palin might say, You betcha!
But in looking back on the news coverage and the angry rhetoric used by the GOP during the congressional debate of the stimulus, it is striking how little discussion there was of what the stimulus actually entailed.
First, the bulk of it was composed of tax cuts. In fact, the stimulus was one of the largest single tax cuts in U.S. history. To say the stimulus failed is to make the argument that tax cuts do not stimulate the economy....

Affirmative Action Putz
What has he been smoking?
Juan, you effigy moron. Only 6% of the stimulus funds made it to rhetorically American worker. the rest went to banks the world over.
I knew there was a reason why I call him “Juan the Moron”.
I happened to catch a bit of Fox News Tuesday night and Juan was spouting this same crap.
He was saying that unemployment is down, the stock market is up and that consumer confidence is rising because of the things Obama has done to help the economy.
I felt a little vomit come up in my throat, so quickly changed the channel.
Answer: Just Juan.
There’s a big, brown cloud in the city,
And the countryside’s a sin.
An’ the price of life is too high to give up,
Gotta come down again.
When the world wide war is over and done,
And the dream of peace comes true.
We’ll all be drinkin’ free bubble-up,
Eatin’ that rainbow stew.
When they find out how to burn water,
And the gasoline car is gone.
When an airplane flies without any fuel,
And the sunlight heats our home.
One of these days when the air clears up,
And the sun comes shinin’ through.
We’ll all be drinkin’ free bubble-up,
An’ eatin’ that rainbow stew.
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
All be drinkin’ free bubble-up,
An’ eatin’ that rainbow stew.
You don’t have to get high to get happy,
Just think about what’s in store.
When people start doin’ what they oughta be doin’,
Then they won’t be booin’ no more.
When a President goes through the White House door,
An’ does what he says he’ll do.
We’ll all be drinkin’ free bubble-up,
Eatin’ that rainbow stew.
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free bubble-up,
Eatin’ some rainbow stew.
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
All be drinkin’ that free bubble-up,
Eatin’ rainbow stew.
Williams is the pot calling the kettle black.
Juan Williams is taking crazy pills, drinking stupid juice, and is hooked up to an intravenous of ignorance.
Fox had made a huge error in hiring Juan Williams. A few years of unemployment on Obama’s watch would have done a lot of good to the liberal Williams. Fox, by saving him from that, helped Williams to keep his socialistic stripes.
As a rule of thumb, I never listen or read his comments on ANYTHING, it is not good for my health :)
Who.....
Juan Williams: “The brown foolaide has a bit of a nutty flavor.”
Yeah, I was just hinking how much better off I am than 4 years ago as I pumped my $4.05 per gaalon gas this morning.
“M.O.O.N.” thats how you spell Juan Williams..

The Left just spouts “things” with no reason, logic or sense.
If you've seen Juan, you've seen them all.
They obviously added Williams to offset the criticism from the left that Fox News is a mouthpiece for ultra-conservative and Republican causes which it isn't and never was.
Maybe for the People Juan the Idiot, one trick pony, supports. The Fact is Most of our tax money in the Stimulus went to Unions and is going to support Obamas reelection
How does it feel to be Supporting Obama with your hard earned money?
Juan Williams is a racist thug and a loudmouth.
Thats is what i believe
We laid down and allowed them to paint Bush as a ridiculous fool! In doing so, we lost any opportunity to point out how things were better under a Republican administration than they are now.
Under Bush, the stock market surged to record levels. People had strong IRA's and anticipated a healthy retirement. Houses and cars kept getting bigger and better. Heck, Starbucks' $4 coffee became an everyday requirement and "boutique" items became common goods! We lived in a very well-off economy!
I don't care how you frame it, THINGS WERE BETTER 5 YEARS AGO UNDER BUSH than they are now! Ask a family if they had more "disposable income" then - YES! Ask a college graduate (or any job-hunter, for that matter) if they would rather be searching for a job in 2004-5 or now. We know the answer! Top to bottom, the Bush years brought us the highest standard of living ever seen anywhere, anytime!
Republicans should be pointing out the huge discrepancies between the standard of living now and during Bush's tenure. But, they can't do that. The "idiot Bush" response would kill them!
P.S. Don't yell at me that the "rich" were the only benefactors of the good times. Our "poor" were very well taken care of.
Of course he thinks that. The liberal media told him so!
Republicans should be screaming from the rooftops that the average American was substantially better off during Bush's tenure than they are now. But, they can't do that. They would be bombarded with "idiot Bush" responses and the sheeple would eat it up!
These people are nuts. I am convinced they are being intimidated into saying this stuff and not covering the gas prices or when they do putting a positive spin on it.
whorealdo, alancolmes, bobbeckel, susanestrogen, loosewheel, shortratner, and dozens of others, mostly lib bitches, like shep smith.
the left thinks they can talk the economy and unemployment into being better....they can talk it down with the help of the MSM and people believe them, even if its not true, but cannot talk it up no matter how much they try....
Juan Williams has the effective IQ of a walnut.
Yeah, well, we now know the Democrat talking points.
Hey Juan, is it grape or cherry flavored?
He hasn’t figured out yet that he can fellate Obama and the left all he wants but he will always be a sell out, Tom, Oreo to them just like Colin Powell.
