Vote - Are Women's Beach Volleyball Uniforms Too Sexy?
Mental Recession ^

Posted on 08/04/2012 9:56:20 AM PDT by rustyweiss74

There is a controversy brewing at the London Olympics and it doesn't involve judges, steroids, or tanking matches (we're looking at you Badminton) - it involves bikinis.

Critics are claiming that not only are the women's beach volleyball uniforms too sexy, but that photographers seem to be focusing an inordinate number of their images on certain parts of the female anatomy.

Are the Olympics women's beach volleyball photos too sexy? That is the claim being made by some people who find that too many pictures of these female Olympians are filled with crotch shots and close-ups of women's derrieres in tight bikini bottoms, according to the Huffington Post just yesterday.

... Although female beach volleyball teams are no longer required to wear bikinis while competing in the Olympics, most of them chose to continue the tradition of skimpy two-piece swimsuits for the 2012 Olympics.

It should come as no surprise that the women's beach volleyball photos of competitors in bikinis come across as far sexier than photos of Olympians who chose to compete while fully clothed. While wearing a bikini, everything from hand signals to a congratulatory hug looks sexy. No one is blaming the women for being too sexy. The question is whether the photographers are gratuitously focusing on certain body parts or poses when they snap their photos.

So what do you think? Too sexy, too photographed, or not enough of either?

this was not a premier event until the uniform became what we see today.

The olympics are physical events.

Peak physical condition is peak physical condition.

Photographers are far too high minded to appeal to the prurient, voyeuristic tendencies of the masses.

Well....aren't they?

“If that is the only reason people watch is to see hot bodies then they should simply play nude.”

Great idea for rules change!!!

I voted “No” only because there was no “Oh hell no!”. The bodies and the uniforms are the only reasons to watch women’s beach vollleyball. Yeah I’m a pig.

That's the way of it nowadays. If you have standards of modesty, you are a prude. If you are a virgin, you are a prude. If modern TV with all the bed hopping and sexuality bothers you, you are a prude. If the sexualization of little girls so prevalent today bothers you, you are an out of touch prude. If gay marriage and licentiousness bothers you, you are a world class HATER prude.

We go to the beach. We try not to look too much at the naked people. When you are watching sports on TV, with people shaking their naked flesh, it's hard to do the same.

I will agree with your last sentence. Life isn't fair. Especially if you try to live by biblical standards. The morality of the world is stacked against us, we do understand that.

You do realize you’ve regurgitated the Muslim argument word for word?

I look like that and I’m not rabid about it but it just doesn’t seem right to have their whole butts hanging out. I can’t really say why, it just seems inappropriate. Those booty shorts are worn by strippers and the like cuz they make your butt look awesome and sexy. I don’t know, just seems wrong for an Olympic sport, unless we are doing that whole Greek naked thing and all......

Michelle Jenneke was just trying to stay warmed up and loose.
She can't help looking sexy, that's her build.
When you're about to push your muscles to the max, you'd better be warmed up.
Is it sexy, hell yes!!!
Was that her purpose, don't think so.

I understand what you are saying but as men here is the double standard we are hit with from women..humorous but 100% true

The Committee of Virtue and Decency have approved the 2016 women's uniforms for all events.

That is probably correct. If that is the only reason people watch is to see hot bodies then they should simply play nude.

I had a huge let-down when I read an article under the headline:

Women's Volleyball Players Need Not Wear Bikinis at Olympics
As it turns out, the article said the women could wear one-piece suits instead of bikinis. Darn!!
