Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

As for me, I respect the faith of others until such “faith” tells them to strap on bombs and kill innocents. The few Mormons I have known have been positive contributors and great neighbors.
I think when conservatives fight amongst themselves, the liberals win. IMHO this entire thread does not bode well for our Republic.

Social conservatism has a fighting chance with Romney—and NO CHANCE with Obama. If Obama wins, I honestly expect to see opinions like that of Mr. Cathy of Chick-Fil-A fully criminalized—as is already happening in Canada and Europe. Churches will be directly targeted, and with another couple Supreme Court justices needing appointment...if that is Obama, he will certainly appoint totalitarians. Mitt MIGHT...but at least there’s a fighting chance he won’t. Both economic AND religious liberty, along with freedom of speech, not to mention the 2nd Amendment, will be destroyed in another 4 years of Obama, and we will have a totalitarian state. I've voted in ten consecutive Presidential elections,every one for which I was legally qualified. I'm proud to say that every single vote I've cast was for a candidate who received at least 100 Electoral votes. Some of those candidates received the *majority* of the Electoral votes,some didn't. Not a single one of the candidates I voted for was, IMO, perfect. Most of them weren't even close. But each one was at least somewhat superior,and most were substantially superior, to their Rat opponent. Being a lifelong Massachusetts resident and understanding Massachusetts politics far, far better than most Freepers, I know that Romney, although quite imperfect,will be at least a somewhat better, and very possibly much better, in his first term than will Osama Obama in his second. The guy identified himself and asked if I would be willing to contribute $200 to the Romney campaign. “No ;’#$ing way”, I told him. “I will promise you one thing though, I will hold my nose and vote for your man. Paul Ryan will serve to enact a huge portion of what conservatives have been working toward. Ryan's public appearances and his relationships with Congress will be invaluable. Gov. Romney picked a true conservative and one of the most qualified out there. It would be folly not to vote in favor of Ryan's blueprint which will be largely enacted after they get elected. Under Obama, millions would suffer greviously. I have no problem voting for the GOP ticket. -- what's up

Stopping Obama is paramount. The alternative means that the American experiment is over. A second O administration will be even worse since he will be unconstrained. Romney now leads a coalition to stop Obama that includes conservatives. It is the best hope of advancing the our agenda among the two options. Think again. There's too much 'water cooler' superficial talk going on. Ryan is an excellent choice. It means that Romney wanted someone who would understand the legislative network and has direct relationship established with the Congress, and on the most important subjects facing us.... Taxes, Entititlements and Govt Budget. People really need to appreciate the value that Romney has added to his potential administration. He can appoint Ryan to lead whatever Executive policy initiatives he wants to establish. That's a pretty powerful role, even more powerful than a Cabinet position, because they only 'administer' the President's policy. Come folks, take a deep breath, and put your mind to work here for goodness sake.
