Blount was “not aware of the hazard” and unfamiliar with the store, according to the lawsuit.

Nonsense.

They never heard of amputation? You survive AND get dinner.

Weren’t the deep fryers covered when they cleaned the vent? Crap from the vents falling back into fryers for extra flavor?

An ambulance chasing lawyer looking for a big out-of-court settlement probably convinced her to file the suit.

-- Why is she just now filing the lawsuit, almost two years later? --

It is usually to injured plaintiff's advantage to delay filing until close to the time the statute of limitations expires. Makes the task of finding defensive evidence more difficult, and some defensive evidence may even be lost due to passage of time.

That’s a good explanation. Makes sense.

There are deep fryers large enough for a person to fall into? Have never seen one of those.

Suddenly, the fryer cover gave way and Blount’s left leg fell into the deep fryer, the suit says.

Bad headline. Only one leg fell into a fryer and the story still doesn't give any indication of how large the fryer was and how extensive the burns.
