Put aside whatever suspicions you may have about whether Donald Trump will be directly implicated in the Russia investigation.
Trump is right now, before our eyes and those of the world, committing an unbelievable and unforgivable crime against this country. It is his failure to defend.
The intelligence community long ago concluded that Russia attacked our election in 2016 with the express intention of damaging Hillary Clinton and assisting Trump.
And it was not only the spreading of inflammatory fake news over social media. As a May report from the Republican-run Senate Intelligence Committee pointed out:
“In 2016, cyber actors affiliated with the Russian Government conducted an unprecedented, coordinated cyber campaign against state election infrastructure. Russian actors scanned databases for vulnerabilities, attempted intrusions, and in a small number of cases successfully penetrated a voter registration database. This activity was part of a larger campaign to prepare to undermine confidence in the voting process.”(continued)

We have been interfering in foreign elections for decades. Doing much more interfering, too.
That’s not how I remember it. Podesta freely sent his password to the DNC server to a phishing email from “a” Russian guy. He got in and found all the dirt on the DNC and the rest of the dem cabal.

How bout Roger Cohen saying Saturday we should abandon the term “populism”? Could it be because it’s winning? The people know what it means, even if he doesn’t.
Maybe he just wanted a chance to say Trump supporters believe the President is “a loose cannon, needy, narcissistic, erratic” (4th paragraph from end). Dissing the president, and his supporters, is like heroin to them. Here he manages to do both in one contradictory sentence.
Now that the populists not only look like they are winning in Italy but are talking about moving populism to the rest of Europe, look for a lot more attempts at killing the movement. Even the Italian Rolling Stone got into it.
They invented the word “woke,” which is an attempt to steal being awake in Christ and use it for “hip to communism.”
But if they can’t frame the narrative by inventing the language to describe and create things, they’ll try to destroy the very words that describe things they don’t like.
