Did Dean actually cause Watergate

I've always thought so and can clearly remember him and "Maureen" sitting there so smugly during the Watergate hearings.

Dean set up the break in to look for his wife’s name on the DNC call girl ring. She was a hooker before he married her.

What “scandal” is he having to survive? Did I miss something important? I know the Libs, Dems, MSM, Never Trumpers are all wee wee’d up about something...but scandal? Meh.

So basically Dean set up the Watergate break-in because he wanted to marry a pretty girl who happened to make her living as a high-priced hooker, and in order to impress her with how much power he had, he set up a break-in of DNC headquarters, justifying it to other members of the Nixon team as a way to look for damaging information on the Democrats, but that wasn’t really the mission at all, that was just a ruse to justify the use of CREEP, FBI and CIA assets (like Liddy) to go clean up his fiancé’s loose ends?

Absolutely incredible if true. I remember when Liddy alluded to this level of skullduggery on his radio show. He hated Dean.

As John said--truth has a way of always surfacing.. :-)

Trump has several advantages that Richard Nixon didn’t have.

The truth.

Watergate was Dean’s operation, to protect his wife.

Yes, IMMIC G. Gordon Liddy was on one of the MSNBC shows in the 90's and noted he wanted to literally kill Dean for the longest time and in a lawsuit deposition it came out that this was about Dean, Sex ( or the Sex is wife was doing for $ before they were an item ) and Nixon covered for him and by extension Nixon took one for the team and Dean IMHO never had the cohones to tell us that the whole Watergate fiasco was about Dean's agenda, not politics. G. Gordon was flummoxed and his attitude changed about Dean. Unfreaking believable that this country was put through this because he married a high class call girl, he had to confirm it, and obviously he didn't want it public knowledge.

A few years after the Watergate event, I attended a talk at my college with John Dean. He babbled on for awhile until the former police detective Frank Serpico, who uncovered police corruption in NYPD, and was in the audience, stood up and accused Dean of lying. I don’t remember his exact words, but it made quite an impression on me.

That is what I always thought (and still do). The media, dems, Rockefeller republicans were perfectly happy to take down Nixon - he won reelection in quite a landslide which made him fair game.

Yes, my college at the time had Dean come in and speak. He said nothing in a long speech.

So John Dean is a Never Trumper? He sounds like a bitter old man. His assumption that this is a legitimate investigation about a real scandal show him to be a complete fool who is not paying attention.

Yep. I saw this:

“He has no respect for the rule of law, or historical norms, or standards of conduct. Because he is shameless, he will do it his way, which will be un-American and unprecedented.”

And had to remind myself he was talking about Trump, not Clinton or Obama...
