Whats in your ready bag and why? I thought that I would start this thread so fellow minded FRs could compare notes and learn. Everyone will have different regional needs so keep that in mind Here is Mine: My pack is a hydration backpack made by Platupus in un scary blue color Everything is vacuum sealed with one of those food saver thingies

Great stuff. Muttly's 8,638,948,622,047....cents :
I have lost rings before. Even off of my WARM, furry, live paws. Pass on that one.
Medussa is a great idea, and note...a REVOLVER. If an L-Frame ENHANCED could be had, a 7-SHOT!...even better. The L cylinder is said to be even longer than an N-frame's, so longer, heavier bullets could and should be used, if possible. My only major question (ain't I a pain in the butt...? Cute, though) is how strong is the arrangement which holds all this different stuff in....will it break under heavy loads...???? Nice to have something else to fire all this 9mm Export ammo in...tee-hee....but I feel secure behind this here gold-plated hopper-fed Kolibri Gattling gun. They'll rue the day they messed with ME!
About ACTUAL extended social-breakdown death and dying everywhere starving masses on the prowl.....no law no how nowhere..all bets are off stuff (did I qualify that enough for our legal department, Johnny...??)..
.......a double barrel, double trigger 12ga., hopefully a 3" or 3 1/2"...and a neatly applied hacksaw blade should be the most useful tool in the family protector's kit...bar none.
So...12ga. 3" mag. pump shotgun, with pistol-grip stock, side-saddle ammo carrier, perhaps magazine extension to 18" barrel....great.
Double barrel, double trigger 12ga. 3", 16", pistol grip.
Have a nice day. I hope it lasts.
Did I mention WATER PURIFICATION equipment as the most valuable thing....everything else being "negotiable"....food is everywhere. Only, some times it shoots at you first.
Can I bring green chile and steaks instead? :)
The best firearm to have is the one you have :) let's not turn this into the ford v chevy thread :)
Squantos and Covenantor, thanks for linking the great High Road thread! Mandatory reading!
Yes, enough to feed the 800 of us who will be showing up.
(After reading The High Road thread, Squantos should be prepared for at least that many "friends of friends of friends" to arrive.)
Yep I'm watching and reading the high road thread on water issues and not one of em has discussed the simple boiling process of purification yet....all about gadgets and gizmos, filters drops etc..... An old copper tea kettle w/ some salvaged copper tube will make a water distilling device ya can use on the BBQ grill or in a small camp fire or camp stove to make "pure" water even if it was contaminated with salt water or POL products.....
I'm really thankful I'm not there of course but the lessons learned here are gonna be valuable.....link me to the threads on such in NOLA as ya see em please....
Stay safe ya'll !
Sure room for all refugees west of the rio grande...when it snows make snow cones....just don't eat the yellow ones.....:o)
We use 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile, and 2 to pull a trigger. I'm lazy and I'm tired of smiling......
ping for later
Classic, I'm stealing that one!
Might be wise to purchase that remote unimproved land for a bugout destination. As long as it has water, the rest can be dealt with in time. Someplace remote, which is off of the refugee track.
I have caches at different ranges and different points of the compass at friend homes or other property. The distant ones are based on most mileage capable with my vehicles and carried fuel w/o refueling. Closest is one days walking distance if left afoot......
I'll check back this evening....gotta go play !
Could you republish you art of the cache? A lot of people might find it very useful
Folks can still read it on my "favorites" or whatever its called, by clicking on my name.
You're hard core. Wow!
Looking for critics on my loadout, someone tell me what I should add or dump (see first post for what I have)
Several LED flashlights. A Grundig wind up all-band radio/flashlight.
good idea small and light, thanks keep the ideas going freepers
Ol' Squantos is the ALPHA male... And he even knows a few of them other letters. :)
During the Y2K insanity - my dad was at a dinner party with his idiot new wife's friends. They were comparing notes about what they were stockpiling in preparation of the complete societal breakdown at midnight 1/1/2000.
When the conversation came to dear old dad - they asked him what he was gathering... dad said, bullets.
Because with my bullets, I can have all of the things you are hording.
Dad was an NRA member.... ;^)
It's upside down.
Did anything happen on 1/1/2000?
I'll assume dad didn't need his bullets. He was just remarking at the stupidity of the Y2K insanity.
These people were gathering 50# bags of rice.... he thought it was stupid.
I do not advocate anything except sex, beer and rock and roll. ;-)
Well, it started as a bug out thread, and has turned into, "Hell, might as well stay and roat and toast a few!"
BTW: Kahr Arms P9 in my ready bag. Along with granola and gatorade.
With a soft cover.....:o)
You fly upside down , observation isn't valid ! How else do I lure in all those fine red haired wimmin fer swimmin ?!?
I wish that place was mine....be hell in a lightning storm I suppose.......:o)
If you put sneakers on it - the lightning won't hurt... right?
I'm rusty enough without a steel house......8o)
"What if this had been a terror attack?"
I think in case of a large scale terror attack, the feds would have taken over right away.
Instead, theyhung back and let the states handle it. It worked out in other states, but the incompetence of LA was too much to handle.
thanks for the thread and the links to others to get my asssssssets in order...
i like the desalination kit and the water purification... clorox bleach is good to have for that too... though i cannot remember the suggested mixture... i believe it was 1/4 cup to 5 gallons... but do not quote me... just season to taste...
manual can opener... make that two.
Funny, but I was gonna head to YOUR house!
Gas starts to break down in two weeks. If you don't rotate it on at least a monthly basis, it will be 5 gallon cans of varnish when you really need it. Long term, use Sta-Bil (a fuel additive) IF yer buggy is an old one that still has a carburetor. Unknown if the Sta-Bil is O2 sensor safe, or not.
Thank your gub-mint for making gas unstable and unstorable...
Silver is easier if you don't want the hassle of trying to get change of a $450 one oz. coin. Mix it up, some silver, some gold. And plenty of ammo
The essentials: Nonperishable food, water, medical kit, firemaking and heating equipment, spare batteries. I have a U.S. Army survival manual left over from my career. I refer to it every now and then to make sure I'm current on everything.
And of course personal protection. I'm not going to go into details of what I would take. I do have an M1911. The other firearms are long and semiautomatic. The ammunition is not stored in boxes, but in stripper clips on bandoleers, ready to be stripped into magazines if need be.
I've never depended on government to protect me in case of a natural or manmade disaster, and I never will.
At the last office meeting it was discussed that I am gunned and ammoed up. They said that they would head to my house.
I told them to check the welcome mat.
It might be turned over.
BTW Matt, did you see the Crawford, TX pix of your yeller shirt?
Yer gonna go to Swishy Rump, Texas?
A yellow shirt ?
I thought you were just in a pissy mood ?
Good thread on making a cache. I tried to bump it, but it's locked. Oh, never forget Bag Balm and duct tape if your series.
Very useful thread. Thank you!
Bumped and bookmarked.
The EFAD shirt was at Crawford? I didn't see it.
There were more, I don't have them because I didn't take any pics of myself!
Flyer & Humblegunner do you have more?
I have a couple more, but they make you look like a doofus, so I didn't want to. . .
Oh, wait. . . never mind. I'll go dig 'em up.
OK, I'm at a stopping point here.
Are we posting doofus pix of Eaker or not?
I can free up 62% of hard drive space if I clean out my Eaker/Doofus files.
