I am not sure I think he is a conservative, but he sure is good in his books. His radio show is another story entirely. I find it hard to believe the same guy writes the books, that does the show!

Savage is a putz....he knows his ratings are in the toilet and will stoop to unprecidented levels to get an audience.

88

Yeah, I pretty much stopped listening to him a while ago. Don't get me wrong. He's frequently insightful and prescient, but I just couldn't stand the NEGATIVITY! It's the same reason I stopped listening to CNN, MSNBC, and the rest of the liberal MSM. It's always BITCHING, MOANING, and COMPLAINING about one thing or other, with no SOLUTIONS or positive policy proposals to fix the problems.

I finally figured out that, within 5 minutes of tuning in to Savage, he will tell you:

a. What he's "pissed off" about that day.

b. That we're all going to hell, we're screwed, and there's nothing anybody can do about it.

c. That Rush Limbaugh is a fool and an idiot. He seems to be OBSESSED with Limbaugh. Guess it must be Limbaugh's consistently high ratings. If someone EVER wants to piss Savage off, just mention Rush Limbaugh if you manage to get on the show as a caller. As in "Well, Michael, Rush Limbaugh said..."... Trust me, Savage will cut you off and go on a 5 minute profanity-laced "exorcist" rant about how evil Rush Limbaugh is. It's pretty funny when he does it actually. I don't even think he realizes how ridiculous it is. He makes fun of Hannity too cus Hannity is too "positive" (to his mind naive and a tool of the right), and probably cus Hannity has an attractive wife, something I doubt Savage has.

d. Some meaningless drivel about what he had for lunch or what his stupid little dog did that made him feel (momentarily at least) NOT morose and suicidal. But he quickly recovers and reminds us that destruction is only one suitcase nuke away.

e. Some assinine song(s) from the 50s, followed by senile ramblings about his "ideal" upbringing in New York (living in the same neighborhood as Black People, don'tcha know?)

f. Finally, after 2 or 3 hours of morbid ramiblings that would make Edgar Allen Poe blush, he invites his listeners to tune in tomorrow for some more "psychological nudity."

If you've heard one Savage show, you've pretty much heard it all. Every once in a while, he comes up with something people will pick up on ("compassionate conservativism", and "islamo-fascism" are 2 that come to mind), but then he reminds us CONSTANTLY how every body else is ripping off his ideas and how he's not getting any credit.

A lot of liberal callers call in to his show to "argue" with him and I finally figured out why they listen to him: HE'S JUST AS NEGATIVE, BITTER, AND CYNICAL AS MOST HATE-FILLED LEFTISTS! Now, they make not agree with the points he makes, but his TONE is RIGHT ON for the leftist whack-jobs.

Now, mind you, most other conservative radio guys don't really say anything that's "new" or truly thought-provoking, but Savage has pretty much become a broken record.

lol! I just get tired of the bushbots defending any old socialist proposal that comes along just because it's put forth by the party elite. The GOP is, many times, a stupid excuse for conservatism, and Savage calls them on it. NO not a bot, but I like the Pres however there are many decisions that are made by him and particularly the republican congress that drive me insane. Spending like 80's democrats is awful. The inability to come up with real welfare reform that puts people back to work and gets them off the Dole ( lets make them taxpayers), or my favorite by both the executive and the congress: They are not telling the truth in my opinion about the true nature of Islam. I could be wrong on many issues, I don't know? I think when Savage is being thoughtful and not bombastic he is a genius, but many times he just seems to be so gloomy and full of himself that his genius is replaced by a sense of entitlement that only he should be heard and only his op pinions matter. Maybe he is right about all, I just would rather communicate with fellow conservatives thru Free Republic than to listen to a radio commentator / entertainer. I also just truly like to yank peoples chains once in a while, it provides everyone some outlet to vent and poke fun at ourselves. I am normally an optimist about everything, I tend to think that my life is blessed and that Americans in general are a blessed people.

He hasn't attacked FR specifically like Hannity did

You're taking this totally out of context.

Hannity (rightfully) criticized the fringes of FR once, but he OFTEN praises FR. Way more than he criticizes us.

When was the last time Michael Weiner even mentioned FR? NEVER? When was the last time he praised Rush for being a pioneer? Never?

Oh yeah, I forgot, scumbag Weiner calls Rush "Hush Bimbo", Sean "Vanity", and O'Reilly "leprechan". Some of the most conservative talk show hosts, and he calls them sophmoric, childish names.

When was the last time he criticized Err America and their hosts? His criticism (of Bush and GOPers is every bit as scathing as some of the left's comments.

He's such a JACKASS.

With the media, the bitch from the ditch, the race-baiters, etc etc etc, having the 3rd most listened-to radio host, who PROFESSES to be a conservative, criticize our President and call for his impeachment time and again, especially during these difficult times, you're the fool to try and simplify it in these terms. There's so much more at stake. He's a DISGRACE.

Although I RESPECT the Libertarian party, the only change a libertarian has of being elected president is about as good as Hillary Clinton declaring she's changed her mind on abortion!

These people are the right-wing equivalent of moveon.org. They would rather be OUT OF POWER just so they can keep their ideological "purity". Sure. Go ahead. Divide the GOP, get Hillary Clinton elected to the Presidency and then see how far your "pure conservatism" takes you!

Unbelievable.

Uh, they are. Everyone knows that and they don't need you belaboring the OBVIOUS. But we have a 2 PARTY SYSTEM in this country.

We don't have a "pure conservative" party in this country, as they do in Britain.

In PRACTICAL terms (i.e. if you want to BE IN POWER)you either go with the GOP or you're TOAST. Now if you would rather be out-of-power and let the Democrats run things, then great. I suppose your "pure conservatism" will really console you when the Democrats raise your taxes back to the 50% bracket.

Oh please. The Dems are spiralling into irrelevancy, the MSM is discredited more every day, and people don't buy their lies like they used to.

I just don't understand this big fear of Hillary. She's a communist and more and more voters realize this all the time.

Meanwhile, the GOP is shifting left. We all had hope that the post Clinton era would see a revival of conservatism, but no. Bush has been brilliant in some ways, but terribly weak in others. The socialists must be defeated and driven from ever having a foothold again, yet we see him giving them opportunities to hang on at every turn.

So stuff the speech about the two party system. One of those parties could be history forever if it was handled properly. And you're right, conservatives don't have anywhere to go. The Democrat's life support machine is keeping us trapped, and the GOP pollsters know it. As long as "big bad Hillary", or whoever, is out there, we're stuck voting Republican to keep them out of power. If they succeeded in killing the commie beast, they would have competition from the right.

Well, as long as we have these "pure conservatism-or-nothing" conservatives running around here, that's a GUARANTEE that Democrats will take back the house in '06 and win the White House in '08.

Look: Moveon.org PROVED that rigid doctrine only brings IRRELEVANCE and MARGINALIZATION.

Let's not make the same mistake THEY made by insisting it has to be "our way or the highway". No, George Bush isn't "perfect". But he's the best we got. So stop bitching, moaning, and complaining, DEAL WITH IT, and try to make sure as many conservatives stay in power as possible.

I said many of these same things about Savage about a week ago. He had Buchanan on, and he DID suggest that Bush was to blame, for the NO mess.

On top of that, Savage is hard to listen to,on a normal day.

If he is not "rehashing the old stories of his youth, working for his father",or in the drugstore;

If he is not talking about meatballs, or fish,or wine;

If he is not talking about "what Teddy"(his dog) did today;

If he is not running down O Riley, Rush or Hannity;

If he is not saying how the war is lost, and Bush is in over his head, and basically slamming President Bush, blaming him for everything from gas prices to the latest computer virus;

THEN-- he is out there, telling everyone how miserable he is, and how no one should expect to be happy, or succeed, and how life is just a living hell, for nearly everyone.

There now. I think I have pretty well covered the Savage program. And after last week, I have had ENOUGH OF IT!!!!!!!

Stop demanding "perfection" and "ideological purity" and learn to MAKE THE BEST OF WHAT WE HAVE.

i disagree. I think Savage is not a liberal, but yet a Wacked Conservative who often bashes his own quite often for not being conservative enough.

Savage is sort of like Paul Revere mixes up with your old uncle who rips on anything and everything that moves. He's out there on the edge, sort of like the point man in front of the platoon. I do like his tangents on his experiences when he was growing up, the 1950's, the bumper music from then and even his dog Teddy. I love my 8 cats so they are a huge part of my life so I can understand him loving his dog. I like how he points out what is truly wrong, he doesn't let party loyalty get in the way. He is also a good outlet for many of us who have much the same take on things, when he rants, we rant with him, it is a good tension breaker. Unfortunatly, the Pitt game is on tonite (my 90 year old grandmother and my 18 year old calico cat could beat the Pitt Panther football team) so they pre-empt Savage. B-(

Talkshow host that I do miss, Art Bell, I get into the paranormal and the "black ops" stuff and Art just knew what questions to ask. Also, like me, Art is an amateur radio operator and I love it when he had Wayne Green on although Wayne jumps the shark when he talks about health and the story of how we "didn't land on the Moon."

I do miss Chuck Harder though, he was a lot like Savage with his "For the People" show but he was more like a kindly uncle.

I guess the reason why Savage does appeal to me is that I generally see myself as an "independent or populist conservatve," sort of like being a "Dr. James Dobson" on most issues" but I tend to be closer to Hubert Humphrey on economic issues. Savage did make a good point one time to where we do need the Democratic party as a good offset, one time both parties do have the best interests of the country at the forefrint even though we did have disagreements. I think the problem is that where Savage comes in that in key areas, both parties fall down on the job. The Democrats with their moonbat liberal social policies as well as economic policies with no strings attached along with weak military and national security issues. The Republicans are marginally better, they are generally good on military and secourity issues, iffy on social issues bet better than the Democrats, and I think somewhat poor on economic issues for the average guy. Both parties are bad on the border issue, but the Democrats can capitalize if the Republicans don't close the hole fast.

So I do think many times, both paties are leaving the average person behind.

Michael Savage is the best. He is a conservative who is true to conservative ideals.

I'll drink to that. I also like his idea of where able bodied people on welfare would do the work needed to get it. I'm not against a safety net at all, but I think one should put some "sweat equity" in return for the assistance if one is able to. Glenn Beck had a similar idea for the rebuilding of New Orleans for the people who were displaced and need help.

WRT to 87, what pisses you and others off is that Savage is increasing his ratings share while others are decreasing, according to all of the media that reports and follows radio talk shows.

Savage isn't doing well because he found a scam to pull over the ears of listeners but it is because listeners see and hear a voice who reflects their thoughts and beliefs. Savage is better than all but two radio talk show hosts presently, Hannity and Rush, and before the end of the GWB era he will only be behind one of them, according to his assessment. I think that is about right.

As the GOP continues to fail the conservative American spirit and the needs of our American nationalistic revival, Savage is the voice of clarity who exposes those who aren't on the side of a free republic.
