"You people who are perfectly willing to tolerate rumor and speculation that trash somebody else's reputation howl like banshees when somebody turns the tables. If you're ready to laugh off unsourced rumors, I'd invite you to think through the implications of that for your own life."

The original article you don't care for was about 80% of white house picks for the scotus spot turned down the opp. Do you feel that this information would have already been officially disseminated by the white house if it is true?

"Oh, and next time, don't bring a knife to a gunfight."

This sort of comment reflects a great deal on your own personality, particularly an adversarial view of civil interaction, or at least difficulty handling any criticism of your views on a political issue without feeling personally threatened.

Looks like the Admin Moderator is taking up for SINK.

They do that here.

"Looks like the Admin Moderator is taking up for SINK. "

My apology to SINK. The Admin Moderator emailed me and said it was because some other posters complained about something I said/posted. There are the haves on FR and the have-nots. I guess I dissed Bush one too often for this forum--the one that supposedly values dialogue.

Reply 101 was pulled. Maybe that's a good sign.

And the just folks and the Bush-bots.

A little mediation from Ortega y Gasset, "La rebelion de las masas":

We find ourselves, then, met with the same difference that eternally exists between the fool and the man of sense. The latter is constantly catching himself within an inch of being a fool; hence he makes an effort to escape from the imminent folly, and in that effort lies his intelligence. The fool, on the other hand, does not suspect himself; he thinks himself the most prudent of men, hence the enviable tranquillity with which the fool settles down, installs himself in his own folly. Like those insects which it is impossible to extract from the orifice they inhabit, there is no way of dislodging the fool from his folly, to take him away for a while from his blind state. and to force him to contrast his own dull vision with other keener forms of sight. The fool is a fool for life; he is devoid of pores. This is why Anatole France said that the fool is much worse than the knave, for the knave does take a rest sometimes, the fool never.

Spend less time with the fools here. They are fools for life. Not even a good nerd can open their eyes. ;)

Something's likely going to come out before or during the hearings that will embarrass the hell out of the WH. That's why they're trying to rush this one through---

The Dems have rarely needed very much time to dig up dirt.

Schumer has talented researchers.

I think Bush is in a hurry because wants to replace O'Connor quickly.

The legacy of Sandra Day O'Connor

There once was a justice named Sandy
Whose voice sounded sweet, just like candy.
Still, her mouth went and said,
"You can puncture its head!!
If a baby's not thought to be dandy."

I like your poetry better than your prose. ;)
