Thanks to all for your replies!! After some reflection, I will continue with this Den, and make some inquiries into moving my son into another Den. I do value the time and commitment that the Den leader has made to Cub Scouts, and he is not imparting any negative sentiments to the young tikes ( I am there for the den meetings ). I cannot control (to a degree) the outside influences that affect my child and hope that the Scout experience will continue to enrich him and enable him to make his own (sane) choices.

It is unfortunate that some people protest this war, but they certainly do have that right.

Thanks again, it is good to have a conservative neighbor at Free Republic!!!

Tell him that if he makes sure your kid wins the Pinewood Derby you'll put in a good word for him when the evil Bushco. Rovian conspiracy starts sending libs to the re-education centers.

Am I overreacting?

Yes, you are overreacting. Attend the meetings and make sure politics stay out. Worse case, join another Pack.

What year is your son, and what kind of community do you live in. Is the pack through a church or a school?

Yes, you are over-reacting.

The goal of parenthood is to produce a thinking, functioning human being, not a robot who parrots back yourself.

Scouts in my area get great benefit from exploring nature because we have several teachers involved, and we have confidence in our kids to make up their own minds. There is no need for political or religious indoctrination. Kids are especially good at recognizing hypocrisy.

Attending anti war rally's puts one in the catagory of "activist."

Parents have few choices, at least in public schools, where liberal teachers are concerned. But one can choose which den leader will be influencing their son.

Rush calls them "young skulls full of mush"...

I've never met a liberal activist who doesn't look for opportunities to "share" politics.
:::shudder:::
