Oh the horror! The absolute HORROR! Come with me and watch this tale of woe as a poor widdle DUmmie had his sacred virginal ears exposed to the (GASP!) national anthem. You can read all about this violation of his human rights in this DUmmie THREAD. So, DUmmie, can we NOW question your patriotism? Let us now watch the DUmmie writh in agony at this exposure to the national anthem in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, never before realizing what a fascist Francis Scott Key was, is in the [brackets]:
Was at the car place getting the car serviced, and all of a sudden, the P.A. system broke into a flag saluting bloisterous voice of the National Anthem. I couldn't avoid it any place on the premises, as I was already outside sitting on the curb. Felt like I was in some natzi camp getting ready for the showers. Needless to say, I voiced my opinion on the matter to the management. Told them that I was not at a sporting event, funeral, union meeting, blah blah and asked him when Wagner was scheduled. Told them that the National Anthem blasting at the car dealership was nationalistic and a bit over the top and creepy. What do you think?
[I think you have a strong case for the Hague against that car place for causing a crime against humanity by subjecting your progressive ears to the national anthem.]
We are headed down the slippery slope. I have a feeling that in the coming years, Americans are going to wish they had paid closer attention in History.
[First you hear the national anthem in public and the next thing you know you are forcibly marched into a Wal-Mart detention center. It is indeed a slippery slope.]
I'm with Luis Bunuel: I don't even want to hear it at sporting events. Of course some people would say that this makes me unpatriotic. To which I would reply: bullshit, it just makes me nonjingoistic and nonnationalistic.
[It makes you a nonrational DUmmie like Luis Bunuel.]
I could do without it there too, but then I don't go to sporting events, so I don't have to be bothered with that.
[Good news! Bukowski's doesn't play the national anthem at drinking events.]
Is Houston the only place that has replaced "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with "God Bless America" (at least the last time I was at a game)? I was floored. I wouldn't stand, as it is not our national anthem. My husband was afraid I was going to get lynched.
[How about if we play the DUmmie anthem... "They're Coming To Take Me Away!"]
I share your creep-itude. I wish more people truly understood the difference between patriotism and nationalism. Or jingoism.
[USA! USA! USA! Thus began the Third American Empire.
Was this a national/regional chain, or a private garage? That would have given me the creeps, too. Good for you for speaking out.
[So you got the creeps every day in school when they played the national anthem?]
I'll bet you're not the only one who didn't like being assaulted by the loud music. Anybody trying to have a conversation or who was making a phone call would be annoyed, I would think.
[FUnnie how you complain about the national anthem but not about loud rap music full of N-words and F-words. That stuff assaults my ears almost daily.]
Smart business people stay out of politics...
[Only a DUmmie could see playing the national anthem as being politically partisan.]
I don't think you should have voiced your complaint. They probably just think you're a jerk, now.
[Along with the thousands of DUFU readers who think the same thing.]
It wasn't a car wash on a military base, was it? You get treated to the tune twice a day, when the flag goes up, and when it comes down--they DO give you a warning, though, so you can run for cover and not get stuck standing and saluting in a parking lot halfway to your car....
[WARNING! WARNING! Your liberal ears are about to be subjected to the national anthem! All DUmmies are advised to enter protective shelters until the cessation of this song!]
I'm tired of war-mongering, and that song is a celebration of a moment in war.
[It celebrates the moment when the war-mongering fascists in Ft. McHenry withstood a British bombardment.]
They would want God to save Elton John???????
May I suggest 'bloister' as the opposite of 'cloister'. Thus, speaking in a bloisterous voice is engaging in loud, rude behavior not representative of a cloistered environment...or so this DUmmie may believe.
Just a suggestion :)
That DUmmie needs a trip through the car wash to cool down. I get subjected to leftist orthodoxy all the time in LA, but I don’t complain to the management. (Maybe I would if it were a government building being used to promote a distinctly political cause, but ... a private car wash?)
Watch out for lightning!
I think I would have kicked him/her/it off my car lot.
You caught “flount” (flout/flaunt) and “intrical” (integral/intricate), but you missed “flustrated” (frustrated/flustered).
Well, I told you I was a bad speler....
Francis Scott Key would be proud.
I’ll go out of my way to dump a full soda on anyone that doesn’t stand for the National Anthem.
Well, then, you need to check out this site: FreeSpeling.com.
It’s almost eerie.
No, really, it is.
Boy DUmmie you got that right!! Only YOU and your fellow lefties are the very ones taking it there. But you are too selfish and narcissistic to see it.
(surely this was posted by a freeper just wanting to make the DUmmies look bad, donch think?)
Democrats revealing their true colors...socialist red.
Oil changes are bad for the environment, DUmmie. Boycott oil changes and you'll never have this problem again.
Their hate is blaring. A few years ago you could say, "I know he wasn't raised that way". Unfortunately nowadays, he probably was.
I didn’t understand it either, but these people are illogical and irrational.
The words “Dummies” and “looking bad” are kinda redundant.
You KNOW they don't need any of us for that. We can't make them look any worse than they already do. I know you've heard the saying "You just can't make this stuff up"...it applies here, I believe. Actually, they are WORSE than I ever could imagine over there. Most of the time, I can't stand to read it.
Gotcha....You’re right. That would be fun. :-)
If you can stomach it a donation (preferably small) might help.
But don’t expect a refund if they decide to tombstone you later.
Don’t insult the Ramones by lumping them in with DUmmies, They were pretty patriotic and proud to be American. Dee Dee was an Army brat and Johnny went to a military academy. They loved war movies and collected war memorabilia. And they absolutely HATED hippies. All are reason enough to have a place in my top 3 bands of all time...well, that and their music is incredible!
Hmm, I thought "intrical" would be (integral/intrinsic)......Hmmm
No. It's now done throughout MLB after 9/11. Ironically, it's even played in SF during Giants games.
Saluting? Please tell me this DUmmie isn't a military member.
This DUmmie would really hate Okinawa. There we had to stand at attention through our national anthem, the Japanese national anthem, and the Marine Corps Hymn.
And we LOVED it!
creepy Charles as I was just thinking about stevenumbers right before I got your post. (cue creepy music)
The offended DUmmied now needs to sell his tainted car.
"To the Colors" is played after Retreat at Ft. Hood. Traffic stops for Retreat, not for Reveille, so there's no need for Dummies to hide even if if they are up before the sun. Oh and saluting is for military, civilians just remove headgear and put their hand over their heart. But these facts would only ruin this chapter of the "Dummies Guide to Fascism in Amerika"
IIRC, it's up to the base commander what bugle calls are used, although they're pretty much standard.
I had basic & AIT at Hood (2/81 Armor). But that was many, many moons ago and I don't recall whether Too The Colors was played at that time It's been far too many years for this ol' mind to recall. Regardless, the National Anthem is not on the list.
The 4th of July must be almost as bad as Christmas for these traitors. I don’t question their Patriotism since they have none.
Pray for W and Our Troops
That's when Pitt is throwing up.
Hold on there just a minute. The DUmmies are VERY loyal...to Castro and Chavez.
Yeah, Castro and Chavez would listen to their whining while asking them if they want a blindfold or cigarette.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Indeed. If history has taught us anything that playing the National Anthem in towns across America leads to parades, town festivals, even...fireworks displays. You play the National Anthem today, and where does it end? Drinking lemonade on the porch and waving to passers-by?
It's a celebration of a moment of victory through great sacrifice. The DUmmies would just love the National Anthem if it were a song about the fall of Saigon.
I sure wish more DUmmies understood the difference.
...and he's not smelling very good right now.
So even though you'll never hear it at a sporting event, you don't want it played because you know there's always some sporting event somewhere, and you can't even stand knowing that it's being played.
Pack up and move to one of them.
Obviously, you miss the point of the seventh inning stretch. They weren't standing because "God Bless America" was playing, they were standing to prevent blood clots from forming in their femoral arteries.
So my advice to this DUmmie, as it was to the OP when I said boycott oil changes, is boycott standing up and stretching.
I’ve been reading the DUFUs since the start, and I’m still amazed that people still think like this.
The manager of the service station probably thought you were a jerk when you went there to fill your Zippo with gas.
And then he sez to me, he sez, "In light of the situation, 'White Punks on Dope' seems a more appropriate selection."
Creepitude is one of the traits that all DUmmies share.
Pitt at closing time at Bukowski's.
She said "wouldn't" stand, not "couldn't" stand....
