Posted on 09/10/2008 9:00:38 PM PDT by adm5
Today, during an Obama/Biden rally in New Hamshire, Sen. Joe Biden floated the idea of Sen. Hillary Clinton being a better pick than him to be Vice President.
There is absolutely NO WAY that this was an off-the-cuff remark defending his longtime friend Hillary Clinton from the question posed by the "audience member".
Joe Biden, the battle tested Senior Senator blowhard, bringing his much needed "Gravitas" to the democratic ticket, owning that vastly superior intelligence quotient, certainly wouldn't cast doubt on Obamessiah's pick for VP, would he?
To the casual observer, Biden's remarks look like a run of the mill - foot in the mouth, political gaffe. And certainly, these comments add fuel to the fire for the criticism that Obama is "young, inexperienced and worse of all, indecisive".
I apologize in advance for the curse words you are about to read...BUT I SAY:
H - O - R - S - E - P - U - C - K - Y!
The specific political terminology that accurately describes what is happening inside the Obambi campaign is, "a full-blown hissy conniption fit".
The cause - Sarah Palin.
Team zerO's solution? Eagleton II. Hillary rides to the rescue on her majestic donkey to save the democrats day.
Scenerio 1: Become yet another member of the Loser's Club; taking a seat next to John Kerry and algore.
Scenerio 2: Become the first sitting President to commit "suicide".
Perhaps after Biden resigns Obama could trade with Hillary for the VP spot.....
perfect thread to drop Dennis Miller’s line on Obama’s response to Palin, “He doesn’t know whether to defecate or wind his watch at this point.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. Why would Biden say that Hillary would have been a better VP choice? I think they are laying the groundwork for a change in the Dem. ticket.
I think the Clintons are too smart to jump onto a sinking ship, they’ll sit this one out.
Obama’s losing, so Biden is throwing Obama under the bus.
This is simple. Biden is admitting when Obama is too humiliated to say: I, Obamadon of Ramadan, cannot close the deal, am less qualified than Sarah Palin who is the VP candidate, and I am a miserable failure on my first run for President. Yeah, Obama is a failure. If he replaces Biden with Hillary, well, he just said he can’t make a good decision. Do you want thus kind of guy holding the “football”? Meaning the button for the nukes? I mean, he just made a royal blunder in the race. Why would people elect him to make a worse one? I mean, right now, he is worse than Bush.
A trial balloon is information sent out in order to observe the reaction of an audience. It can be used by companies sending out press releases to judge reaction by customers, or it can be used by politicians who deliberately leak information on a policy change under consideration. In politics trial balloons often take the form of an intentional news leak to assess public opinion.
The only potentially winning ticket for the Rats is Clinton/Obama. If Barry is smart enough to step down to VP, the evil ones may have a chance.
Why would such chaos be seen as people to lead this country?
Clinton would be a bigger disaster for Obama than Biden. First off, it would make him look weak and make his judgment appear poor. Second, he’d be stuck with Hillary as a running mate. She’s not a popular or likable woman. Even her own party could barely conceal their glee as they threw her under the bus. She wouldn’t excite the dems, but she would scare the bejesus out of the GOP and would probably bring more money in for McCain than Palin did.
Why would such chaos be seen as people to lead this country?
Such chaos would, indeed, *not* be seen as people able to run the country. The donks are between the devil, and the deep, blue sea. They have absolutely *no* way to counter what has happened, NONE! Any attempt to put Hillary on board now will not work, and she, at least, knows it. It isn't going to happen...
Maybe Biden can see that Obama is going to get trounced and doesn't want to be linked with Obama the looser.
Very nicely said, and (IMNNHO) exactly spot on, too!
Hillary really DOESN’T WANT to be VP... She knows even then, Obama is unelectable. There will be more to surface about Obama. She’s better off waiting until 2012 and run
for President on her own.
I disagree. The rat voters would disregard any sign of weakness in the chnage and embrace the hildebeast/hussein ticket in a heartbeat.
It would then become a VERY difficult if not impossible path to victory for mccain-palin.
A google search for “drop Biden” nets 735,000 hits this morning...my guess is that number will begin to rise exponentially. Here in the People’s Republic of Austin, Texas, a notoriously liberal town, talk radio this morning is all about rumors that Obama will drop Biden for Hillary. It’s showing up on left and right political blogs, too. If Palin continues to be the phenomenon she’s been (and I suspect she will), I predict the whisper campaign to throw Biden under the bus will become a deafening roar over the next 2 weeks or so. Given Obama’s proclivity to throw people under the bus (Rev. Wright), my guess is that he’ll do it. I predict Biden will hold a press conference announcing he’s recently been told by his doctor that campaigning is wearing on his health, or something similar, and for the good of his family he must step aside, leaving Obama the opportunity to select a new running mate. Hillary rides in to save the day for the dems.
What I hope is that the McCain/Palin folks are fully prepared and engaged for this scenario, and can pounce on the imploding Obama campaign as they try to regain traction with Hillary.
My gut tells me not even Hillary can save Obama at this point. Palin has energized republicans and independents alike, and even John McCain himself now has a swagger...(in Texas, we call that walkin’:)) The MSM and the left’s shameless attacks on Palin and her family have just made her stronger and more popular, and even with Hillary replacing Biden, I don’t see how they’ll regain much in the way of momentum at this point.
My 2 cents.
Obama already has the rat vote nailed down, but he needs more than that to win. He needs the swing vote. By switching horses in midstream, he will appear weak and indecisive and the moderates won’t flock to Hillary. She’s not charismatic or likable. In fact she’s pretty much the opposite. Even her husband, who was charismatic and likable and presided over the country during a period of peace and prosperity, never managed to get 50% of the vote.
