come come now AndyJackson no need to get all testy and call me an idiot simply because you disagree with my assessment. we can all be adults, and adults are discussing things here.

apparently i insulted your guy newt or whatever and you have taken umbrage with my statements. fair enough.

i’ll stand by my statements and wish you the best.

Let me try the point more diplomatically. Everyone who is inclined to conservatism ideologically is already a conservative, except for proselytizing for converts amount the brainwashed youth. To sell ourselves, we have to have a positive program. We have to give folks a vision of how their lives will be better if conservative principles are followed. This is the problem that WFB took on when he wrote Up From Liberalism. After a decade of RINOs we need to reexamine the problem again. Newt understands that and is constantly probing for new ideas, new ways of doing things.

BTW regarding global warming. It is an open scientific question whether or not human activities are causing worrisome climate change. By open, I mean open - it has not been answered on one side or on the other. One thing that scientists are much less uncertain about, however, is the effect on global climate of continued Chinese growth in energy consumption. If the Chinese expand to American like intensity of energy consumption, and if it is based on carbon based fuels (coal, etc.) then there is little doubt that it will have enormous impact on the global climate.

I like to see Fred Thompson run. He is just the kind of real conservative we need, he speak well, and has little or no bagage.

Well, Bush was elected for two terms. Whether he had a name for the tenor of his programs or not, I think his programs and the tenor would be the same. I think the phrase “compassionate conservatism” was a marketing ploy, nothing more.

And it worked. Bush was elected twice, which was better than having Gore or Kerry elected, so you may want to rethink your argument against Rove. Newt’s a great guy, brilliant man and scholar, but he’s not the greatest political strategist. He let the rats outmaneuver him. Rove didn’t. Don’t you think we have enough upper management people who don’t know how to win, how to street-fight, and continue to bring needles to gunfights?

I know. Reality sucks sometimes.

If Newt drops the global warming schtick I’ll back him!

Listening to him speak gives me hope for humanity.

AS WE pick a new leader of the party, we need to keep in mind all of hollyweird that kept silent are not going to start screaming.

Right now “bowling for columbine” is playing.

The left is going to go after the second amendment because they see that right as “empowering” to their enemies.

Newton won’t drop global warming. He is probably waiting for Al Gore to praise him the way Gore gushed over Jack French Kemp in the horrendous 1996 debate, one I will never forget. Kemp even believed Gore!

The Newt has consumed the global warming cap & trade kool-aid.

Even dems have scaled back on "global warming" talk. Temps have been going DOWN for years.

The global warming issue is gonna go the way of Club of Rome, the Population Bomb, and Alar on apples. It'll slink off into a corner and the MSM will not remember it was dem silliness all along.

One more liberal scare tactic bites the dust. Newt will be great in the job.

I’d still like to hear it from his lips. Besides they are still talking global warming and cap and trade.

Hope he can keep his pants zipped up.

I have a new philosophy: if he can downsize government and preserve my liberty, I don't care if he has a bigger harem than Solomon did.
