He’s too old to run for President but RNC Chairman is the ideal spot for the architect of the Contract with America. We need his great mind and leadership.

I generally like Newt’s ideas, but I think he might have too much baggage.

Let me ask: has Newt mentored any bright young conservative minds who’ve been in the political world and proven themselves??

We really do need new faces. That is why Sarah and Bobby are so appealing—young, different people who are walking the walk AND talking the talk.

No offense to the mobs here who love Newt. Of course, Newt wouldn’t be running for office either....

I just called the RNC today and gave them a piece of my mind before telling them to remove my name from their list.

If this happens, I will call and get my name back on.

I’ve ALWAYS thought this would be the perfect role for Newt.

Newt is a perfect organizer and strategist and proved it with the Contract with America; unfortunately, his personality does not lend himself to being the “leader” once the goal is accomplished, like we saw when he was Speaker. RNC Chairman would be ideal.

That would be a dream lineup. I like that guy Ryan from WI too.

Please, please let this be the case. The Republicans have lost their base since they have gone “moderate.” We need someone who will fight for “CONSERVATIVE” values! Only with someone like Newt can this party be brought back together!

The GOP needs new blood, not retreads like Newt.

After this PSA I’d say no thanks to Newt:

Thanks for the ping! Newt did lose some degree of credibility when he sat next to Pelousy on the sofa in that disgusting global warming propaganda advertisement. But, I expect few would argue that Newt knows how to get Republicans elected with the support of conservatives. He’s proven that in spades, and no one can ever take it away from him.

We need Newt as RNC chairman. Go Newt!

(By the way, it looks like you scooped Sean Hannity. LOL!)

I guess all that talk yesterday about cleansing the ranks of the party and getting some fresh blood and new faces was just lip service.

NEWT! NEWT! NEWT! If he doesn’t get it, the GOP has truly lost its mind.

For all of Newt's flaws (and I've never been a fan of his), I must acknowledge that when the Republican Party seemed to be relegated to permanent minority status after the 1992 election (sound familiar folks) he was a tremendous asset to the GOP in terms of leadership, vision, setting a policy agenda, etc. In retrospect, his optimism -- no, his absolute certainty -- that the Republican Party would see a historic resurgence in 1994 was one of the most remarkable stories in national politics in my lifetime.

I wouldn't worry too much about how a person in his capacity buys into some kind of nonsense like global warming, the environment, etc. What you usually find is that in their post-Congress career, someone like this ends up getting hired by an industry advocacy group specifically to help them push an agenda in Washington.

Like him or hate him, Newt has been the most consistent conservative messenger in America since Reagan. He may stray off the rightwing reservation from time to time, but he’s just what the movement needs. Newt was a back-bench bomb thrower in Congress for years, until he finally put together a solid coalition of conservatives, advancing the Contract With America and getting the GOP elected to majority of control of the House for the first time in 40 years.

Newt would be great as head of the RNC!
