And, of course, McCain was faultless in his hard-hitting campaign against the False Messiah. He sure went after him with both barrels, didn’t he ?

And, of course, the LSM was unbiased through the Bush years and throughout the campaign................

You know, instead of bashing the faults of those on our side, why don't you channel some of that energy into defeating those on the other side?

Oh, I know why you and so many other 'conservatives' prefer to attack your own......you fear doing the *REAL* work of defeating your enemies and just want sit around while those on your side get everything done overnight. When that doesn't happen, you attack your own side.

Grow up and learn how politics is a messy, ugly game.

Well, I don’t think the country will survive another 40 years at it’s current pace of exponential increase in lunacy in leadership.

I think Bush did a number of things. He sanctified big government as a Republican characteristic. He proved that conservatives, out of fear of Democrats, will throw out most of their principles and vote for the most liberal Republican in the crowd. And he proved that most other Americans really don’t understand who or what they vote for, nor what made their country great in the first place.

I think he proved that Americans have completely broken from their heritage of freedom, individuality and the concept of responsibility for self.

The left has been very effective over the years, leaving people without the motivation to live and breathe in freedom. Now Islam, noting the Left’s success, is using the same tactics to invade and conquer the western nations, and they will be successful if things continue on the current path. Dumbed down, girified nations won’t be up to the task of self defense. They won’t even understand what is happening to them.

“...instead of bashing the faults of those on our side...”

Our side? You’re joking, right?

Look, we all knew what we were getting with Bush. His record as Governor of Texas told us exactly who he was.

Bush did several great things and several lousy things. I agree.

However, instead of sitting around here and blaming Bush for our current woes is too crybaby for me.

You need to realize politics is not cut and dry, left and right, but multiple shades all over. It stinks for clear, across-the-board conservatives, but this is the system we have and you either live with it and fight within that system or shut up and let the adults do the work.

“Look, we all knew what we were getting with Bush. His record as Governor of Texas told us exactly who he was.”

That's why I didn't vote for him in the 2000 primary. I held my nose in the main election, knowing we were getting a liberal, but fearing Gore. The next election the choice was just as bad, if not worse, so he got my vote. But this time, faced with a worse liberal, or a communist, I chose a libertarian, who was far more conservative than either of the two main candidates. When you patronize liberalism you get liberalism. I certainly felt unclean when I put those two votes down for Bush. This election, my vote was like a shower, washing away the filth.

“You need to realize politics is not cut and dry, left and right, but multiple shades all over.”

True, but right and wrong are pretty clear cut. Morality is pretty straight forward. Conservatives such as myself have given up on voting for various “shades” of political philosophy. Bush was one of those mauve shades, repulsive, actually, where his politics were concerned. He's not fully responsible for the mess we're in, no more than Hitler was fully responsible for the horrors of the Nazis. The federal government is full of people whose lust for power transcends all respect for their fellow citizens. Bush may not have had a lust for power, per ce, but he had a tremendous agreement with the goals of those who did, and do, and are still up there doing harm. Bush was a major accomplice to the disaster we're in.

But...having said that, Bush bashing is only one small part of liberalism bashing. I reserve the right to bash liberals wherever and whenever I find them no matter their party. Their thoughts, actions and policy are always damaging to a free nation.

I also voted against Bush in the 2000 GOP primary.

He came to our little town in July 1999 and gave a speech on a flag-bedecked bandstand. I took 3 of my kids to hear him.

He went on and on about all the people who "needed help". I remember especially how much he promised to do for "single moms" who were "real heros".

I knew then exactly what he was. My FR comment that night (I wish I could retrieve it) was, "He is our Clinton".

After 9/11, I supported his "war" because I wanted our enemies to be savaged, and he was in a position to do so.

Of course, he failed at that as well, morphing a punitive expedition into a campaign for "democracy" and "liberty" amomg some of the most backward and barbarian tribes on the planet.

And, to top it all off, he brought us Obama.

Too bad, too bad. Oh, too bad!

In other words, he didn’t offer a real choice. He was just another big government spender.

Which is why I laughed when he kept saying he believed in the free market all the while passing bailouts and stimulus and running up enormous deficits.

Yup, no bias there, not a drop. Fair and balanced. The False Messiah was untouched by original sin and Palin was evil because her near-adult daughter actually had sex ! Yup, no bias at all.

I am 52 years old and I will be dead long before there is another Republican majority in any chamber of the Congress.

So, all I can do for now is to moan and stock up ammunition in case the whole thing will turn something much worse.

I voted for Bush and contributed since primaries in 2000 to his campaign and to RNC up. I did appreciate his campaigning against using US resources for nation building and I always thought that wars in Afganistan and Iraq were mistakes

See my old post on the topic

However, by January 2005 it was crystal clear for me that we have to get out otherwise pinkos will get an issue to run on. Bush did a great disservice to this country by allowing Peloci, Reid and Obama a chance to get elected
