Liberalism is a Psychology
Opinion Editorials ^ | August 05, 2004 | Eric Alan Beltt

Many conservatives are absolutely perplexed by the question of what motivates liberals to take the patently wrong political positions they do. It’s difficult to explain it without believing such obviously wrong ideas like liberals are just stupid, or they want to destroy our country, but sometimes we resort to those explanations out of pure frustration.

But what is the explanation? Why do seemingly good, intelligent people take positions that cause so much harm in the face of all the facts? I’ve finally stumbled upon the answer, and it’s so stunningly simple, yet profound in its implications, that it’s absolutely mind-boggling. Liberalism isn’t a political ideology; it’s a psychology - the psychology of self-satisfaction to be precise.

A liberal (or a leftist; I use the terms interchangeably), is a person who only cares about politics to the extent that doing so makes him or her feel good, or avoid feeling bad, due both to external and internal factors. Their motivations can include things like a desire to feel intelligent, moral, noble, or unique, as well as a desire for peer acceptance or reverence, and aversion to being ostracized, among many other things.

This was written in 2004 and it was true many decades before that, as it is still true today! While reading this think about the liberal politicians, the lame stream media and any liberal you might know. This story absolutely nails why liberals think and act the way they do, in my opinion. This guy, Eric Alan Beltt, is really on to something here, IMHO.

Dr. Lyle H. Rossiter is also a genius when it comes to diagnosing many democrats as psychologically disturbed people.

His book is here:

Like...a mental disorder?

Liberals say the same about conservatives; that conservatives have a mental block, or whatever.

Most people are, at least, a little crazy, except me. I’m alright.

Interesting read.

This boils down to two things. The US Constitution and politics.

Liberals see the Constitution as a living document they can either ignore when it doesn't suit their political agenda, or trample on it when it does suit their political agenda.

Conservatives want to follow the Constitution according to the Framers and Founders original intent --- limited government and ultimate power residing in the people.

Some folks are stuck in the middle and go along for the ride.

Right now, liberalism is winning and the Constitution is losing.

Liberals are the Marxists’ ground softening artillery. They don’t care because it’s war for them, civil war they want or facilitate in the end.

“”...which is solely a consequence of the fact that liberals are completely uninterested in real solutions to real problems.

It is the political activism itself that interests them, in that it makes them feel good about themselves for a number of reasons. The particular cause they fight for is relevant only insofar as different causes stroke different emotional needs (moral superiority, intellectual superiority, group acceptance, aversion to emotional trauma, etc).

Let’s take an easy example, same-sex marriage (I’ll come to many more examples later on). Liberals see themselves as fighting the “bigots” on behalf of the “oppressed” minorities, and they constantly compare the battle to the civil rights movement. It isn’t anywhere near, but they do it because it makes them feel important, which is also the reason why this is an issue at the national forefront today.

Liberals press the issue because it makes them feel important, and they support it because it makes them feel morally superior. Whether same-sex couples actually end up “marrying” or not is irrelevant (except to homosexual-leftists, to whom social acceptance is a great ego need), as are the consequences of that. It’s the battle itself that matters to liberals, and as soon as the issue is resolved, you can bet the farm that they’ll move onto something else.

As I said, liberalism is a psychology, not an ideology. And as such, it’s unreasonable to expect it to be limited to a person’s politics; it should show through to many different aspects of a person’s life, and it does. Liberals tend to dominate fields like academia, the news and entertainment media, and the legal professions, and they populate the elite social circles, all because they’re so concerned with their egos.

In academia, teachers and professors are revered as wise and accomplished, and they exercise almost absolute power over dozens to hundreds of students. People in the media are famous and seen as powerful, intelligent, charismatic, and accomplished. Lawyers have enormous power over people’s lives, and like celebrities are seen as intelligent, charismatic, and accomplished, and are also generally seen as moral people (by people who substitute law for morality). Judges are esteemed and seen as a source of wisdom and knowledge, and they too hold enormous power over people’s lives and are seen as moral in the same way lawyers are. I won’t even get into liberal politicians (yet).

There’s a trend here. Liberal professions offer many benefits to the ego. Liberals want to be society’s elite and powerful, much more than they want to be wealthy (although they often go hand in hand). They want to feel good about themselves, and that of course depends partially on how other people feel about them. The same thing that motivates their politics motivates many aspects of their personal lives.

Now, with the basics laid down, I’d like to draw a comparison to the Nazis. Nazism, at its core, was a product of people who cared about nothing but their own sense of superiority, just like the various leftist “ideologies” of today. The Nazi “superman”, the “purity of the German race”, the “subhuman” Jews, all of it was about feeling superior. Hitler took a defeated people and made them feel so superior that they decided to conquer the world and exterminate the “subhuman” peoples, all while helping the poor and protecting the environment.

Now before I go on, let me state that I’m quite thankful that liberals understand that killing people they see as “inferior” will earn them nothing but disdain. The Nazis were decidedly liberal in their psychology (and much of their politics for that matter), but the liberals of today simply aren’t Nazis. Like the Nazis though, they have the potential to do a tremendous amount of damage if left unchecked.

“”

________

I beg to differ on the Nazis. Nazis had fully de-iced and opened the warfare on the nation. Communist civil war kills just as many: abortion, economic catastrophy, starvation, famine: because once they have your money and means, it’s join their paramilitaristic gov. forces or starve.

Been there, done that. Social justice is not about justice, it is about supremacy of a “social” behind a veil of justice and take over of key areas and institutions such as the justice system.

Liberals allow killing and beheadings of muslims because to them “being offended” and “sacrilegeously” dethroned of their power positions warrants killing.

It’s war and not usual policy making. They don’t care about the economy. Their drug taking and dumbness is not a posture for peace but for hardening of heart and building a bunch of cowards over the edge to do evil things without listening.

Yes, and the high they get out of throning themselves make them “feel good”. What sort of sick person and exploitering perv would not?

... and mental disorder is strife within one’s own heart and mind. The reflection of this internal war is seen in the liberal’s war mongering postures: they don’t care about the economy or consequences, they fear as they throw everything into a battle ground.

Liberals are sick communicators at the core: they don’t care about the information/consequences, but only about your posture (are you approachable and can you be conned or trapped or inferiorized via sneaky ways)

Liberals are sick self throning ego centric: for them being “offended” allows murder, abortion, emotional vindictive fight backs, muslim beheadings and other forms of “honor killings”. The throne matters more to them than life itself, and the eventuality of death “hurts” them, not as a death they do accept but as another dethroning act that God imposes on them, making them big quick losers in the end.

Author is exactly right. I occasionally lurk on DU forums to see what really drives liberals. What their core beliefs are. The answer is none. They never argue on the substance of issues. It is always about proving to themselves they are morally (and intellectually) superior and feeling good about it.

Liberalism is a Psychology
Mr. Beltt is half right.

Liberalism is a Psychosis

People experiencing psychosis may report hallucinations or delusional beliefs, and may exhibit personality changes and disorganized thinking.

16 Rationality simply isn’t required as long as they can feel good about themselves in the end
17 avoid facing damage to their ego
18 rarely put real thought into the consequences of their positions, because those consequences simply don’t interest them
19 Socialized healthcare puts immense power in the hands of liberal politicians
20 decide what sicknesses will be treated and what won’t

It's a pathological psychology.

More articles that support the thesis that modern liberals suffer from a mental disorder.

Thank you.

liberals mentally ill?

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”

JudgemAll, I can see the huge, out of control, starving for power,
big egos in all of these people? It’s really about their big egos. Just like the explanation of Liberalism that was posted here, I can see Nazism, Socialism and Liberalism in all of that. It’s all about what ever makes them feel good about themselves and what ever makes them feel important.

Modern liberalism certainly is a fit for someone with abandonment issues isn't it? Someone like ... 0bama? Notice that as President of the United States, leader of the free world, he doesn't take the blame for anything.
