The Sarah Palin hopes for national office officially ended yesterday not when Levi Johnston went on the Tyra Banks Show and displayed his “Bristol” tattoo and talked about condoms. No, the Sarah Palin response, which reads as if someone is spitting it out before closing the screen door of the double wide, sinks Sarah Palin’s ambitions.
Commentary By: Steven Reynolds I remember this Ad from the McCain campaign last Fall, wherte the implication is that Barack Obama’s celebrity was waning and Sarah Palin was going to take over. (McCain hasn’t gained any more sense lately, calling hispanics “you people” and frothing at the mouth in a recent meeting.) Well, since then she’s not exactly become an “A” list celebrity, but more appropriately a candidate for the Montel Williams Show, or Cops. OK, so she can’t control her sister-in-law breaking into a neighbor’s house to steal some cash. That’s not on Palin, is it?
The fun part is that the Palin family is being revealed for the trailer trash sensibilities that are its foundation. Sure, Palin can’t control Levi Johnston going on the Tyra Banks Show, showing off his “Bristol” tattoo, and admitting to wardrobe malfunctions, er, ah, sometimes forgetting to use a condom when making love with Bristol. Heck, she can’t control the video of that appearance, due out Monday but with a sneak peek here. But Sarah Palin can control the reactions of her staff.
Sarah Palin, if she had class at all, would react to this little episode with resounding silence. But, no. Class doesn’t enter into it. Here’s the scoop on the Sarah Palin reaction from that celebrity gossip magazine People:
“Bristol did not even know Levi was going on the show. We’re disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship,” says the statement from the Palin family rep.
“Bristol’s focus will remain on raising Tripp, completing her education, and advocating abstinence,” the statement continues. “It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child.”
The statement ends, saying, “Bristol realizes now that she made a mistake in her relationship and is the one taking responsibility for their actions.”
When I read Palin lashing out like this I think of one thing. I think of someone playing the Church Lady in an opposition political commercial and using Sarah Palin’s exact words over and over and over again. Maybe splice in some scenes of a hair-pulling, chair-throwing fight just to spice up the ad. The celebrity Sarah Palin sought is now at the level of Montel and Springer and Tyra Banks. That’s called finding its true place. Meanwhile, Barack Obama is being feted in Strasbourg.

A distinct drawback to the internet age, you see/read an idiot bloviating and since you have never heard of it before, what degree of effort is suitable in reply. For me, it is like ignoring the faint hum os a gnat unless it gets right in ones face. Then it is a slap-down.
Liberal hit piece - the only people reveling in this are liberals who hate Palin anyway. Does the writer think this is going to change the minds of those who do support Palin?
The boyfriend goes on The Tyra Banks Show to spout intimate details of his relationship with pregnant a 17-year-old ... and the author questions the “class” of Sarah Palin? I don’t get it.

All Palin has to do is play up the populist notion for the next three years.
With what is coming down the pike is massive unemployment and a total wreck. If she wants it, all she has to do is reinforce the idea that she is Everyman; the worker, the representative of the vast citizenry of America who have been stamped on by the PTB.
And for once, the Conservatives need to campaign and NOT apologize to the intelligentsia.
If you are going to be populist, be loud and organize against the intelligentisia and the effete. Stop playing their game.
She could’ve just stayed silent, sure. And that would’ve been OK. But I don’t see anything wrong with the statement they released, either. They’re not happy with the little twerp. That shouldn’t surprise anyone.
I thought the response was perfectly fine. Sarah has every right to defend her family.
Its just the Liberal Hate Media attacking Sarah and her family. The same ones who will not run the Joe Biden cokehead daughter stories (there is more video on that)
And, yes, I agree with Sarah....Bristol is better off without that loser. And Sarah did nothing to harm her Presidential chances in 2012, if she decides to run.
And I bet Sarah has a copy of her birth certificate ;-)
He’s just a young fool getting taken for a ride by the current “elite” all of whom hate Palin and anyone like her.
One day maybe she’ll learn that you can’t respond to every slam that someone chooses to send their way. When you step in the spotlight and get the celebrity status then you either accept the slams and stay above the fray or lower yourself into the fray with responses. She needs to learn to stay above the fray and shut the hell up....
Sarah could ride the Joe the Plumber stump speech all the way to taking down Obama in 2011, IMO
She won’t win suburbanites with an IQ above room temperature with that sh-t. Expect her to get 40% of the vote, most of it in the south and the great flyover.

That kinda says it all. Palin is popular with the beer-drinkin', NASCAR-watchin', married-fer-life, raisin' their own babies, gun-shootin', Sky Fairy-worshippin' American hillbillies. Obama is loved by the French.
