Posted on 06/04/2009 8:11:45 PM PDT by Chris DeWeese
So for weeks we on the right have been trying to get the folks who voted for Obama to see that they have been played. My conservative friends and I have been posting stories on Obamas hypocrisy, flip-flops and truth-stretches at a really alarming rate.
But today is different. Today it seems like everyone right of center is completely up in arms about Obama making a speech to the Islamic world from Egypt. Well, everyone but me.
Im not bothered about the speech primarily because Obama told us he was going to do this if he got elected. It was almost a mantra with Obama, over and over saying he was going to start a dialogue with our adversaries by "reaching out to them". In fact, this may very well be the first time in recent memory where a politician said he was going to reach out to people and actually did it!
Im a little perturbed at the content of his speech, but, again, we really shouldnt be surprised at the content because . its the same content from his campaign! Obama campaigned on fundamentally changing America. His wife said that once Barack was nominated, she could finally be proud of her country. Well, folks, that meant up until the point that Barack was nominated, she was ashamed of her country! Now Barack gets to go and apologize for all of our past sins. Michelle must just be beaming with pride for her country now. Personally, Im hoping he gets out of the confessional, knocks it off with the speeches, and maybe spends some time reading. Reading legislation that is hopefully before he signs any more.
I do agree with the conservative intelligencia on one point. It is really, really annoying that during the campaign Barack just had a silly middle name that we weren't allowed to speak lest we be branded racist and his dad was an agnostic, but now that he has been elected it is hip to have Islamic roots and experiences. (Weve come too faaaaar is now bouncing around in my head).
However, if he can get a majority of the Muslims to soften up on America, if his trip over there can lessen some tension at the negotiating tables, if his addiction to bringing up the past sins of America can somehow turn the hearts of those people to want to stop killing us, then, well, he will have accomplished precisely nothing.
They all live in dictatorships. It doesnt matter if the people living over there like us or not, the guys running those countries, you know the ones with the guns, just see a weak leader they can treat like one of their wives. So, what's there to get all worked up about?
Yep. I called them all, and you’re the only one.
Obama's facts were wrong...even when he talked about the Islamic accomplishments. He again apologized for America, making us look weak in the eyes of friends and enemies.
He is trying to placate and cozy up to them all...and they will view that as weakness too.
The problem is this...your last paragraph says it. The leaders will view it as weakness and they will get the idea that the can treat the US just like you talked about...and that will lead to more deaths of US soldiers and civilians, both aborad, and IMHO right here.
In addition, he is creating a very serious and dangerous situation with Israel by not backing up Israel against Iran. Iran has no incentive to slow down (no fear of us). This makes it much more likely that Israel will try and stop them (I would) and that will also lead to a broader war.
You may be. I am disgusted. Everyone else I spoke to was sickened. His praise of all things Islamic and continued inability to identify anything good in American history (other than his election) is absolutely disgusting. He may have said he would do this, but the act is no less a disaster. We will be dealing with the consequences of this day for many years to come.
He’s ridiculous...a true meterosexual who has probably never busted a grape in his life.
Granted the speech wasn't surprising, but this whole administration has me upset and it was just more of the same.
I was very pissed over this video....
I was very pissed over this video....
I was very pissed over this video....
Sorry about the triple post...
To paraphrase Michelle My Belle, I am ashamed that 53% of the Electorate voted for this Assclown to represent my wonderful Country.
I am starting to long for the competent, clear-eyed diplomacy and flag waving patriotism of the Carter Administration.
4 pings, yet no video, hmmmm :)
For the record, I watched the first two sections of the speech on youtube. Section three of the sequence was missing and I didn’t want to skip to section four. Based on the first two sections of the speech only (about the first 20 minutes), I found the speech to be helpful, positive and nothing to be up in arms about (of course I had to keep telling myself to be objective and to subdue the ‘I hate that smug S.O.B.’ demon inside of me). ...just trying to be honest here.
Chris, you aren’t upset that he honored his promise to the Muslim world but went back on all of these campaign promises to the American people like:
Broken promise No. 1: ‘Sunlight Before Signing’
Broken promise No. 2: Capital gains tax elimination
Broken promise No. 3: New American jobs tax credit
Broken promise No. 4: Hiatus on 401(k) penalties
Broken promise No. 5: ‘No jobs for lobbyists’
Broken promise No. 6: Earmark reform
Broken promise No. 7: Bring troops home in 16 months
Broken promise No. 8: Sign ‘Freedom of Choice Act’
Broken promise No. 9: $4,000 college credit
Broken promise No. 10: Transparency
And on and on...
I am very upset that he cares more about what the world thinks of him than how he can protect the American people.
It’s amazing that Obama would praise Islam for its tolerance of other religion, in Egypt, where Christians are forbidden from holding any government jobs.
Oh, if they send him FOCA, he'll sign that for sure. I hope there are enough senators to stop that murderous piece of legislation.
Honestly, that guy bothers me so much, i doubt if there was anything he could do that wouldn’t bother me.
so far he has a perfect r4ecord, every time hee opens his mouth, i cringe.
Persident of obama derangement syndrome.
I have family who can't even watch the news anymore. One day a while back I called my folks. When I mentioned Obama to my mom, she sighed. My dad expressed dismay, and later that day I phoned my sister and she actually swore at the mention of his name.
The JV is running the country. But on the bright site - when he's over there, he ain't signing bills over here!
Don’t be sorry about the triple post. We can tell you were very, very, very pissed.
No, you are not. As soon as I heard that fool say “ ah salam alekum” or however you spell it, I had a fit. I said look at that a$$hole showing his true colors. It rolled off of his tongue better than the “Star Spangled Banner” ever did. I had to turn the television, it pained me so much.
Yeah, he pronounces 'islam' and 'muslim' properly but doesn't know how to greet the Queen of England.
Krauthammer on Obamas speech: Abstract, vapid, and self-absorbed
She likes to wake you up with a beautiful picture of something to make you feel good.
Most importantly she has a son in Iraq and is a proud mother.
BTW, I hated Barry's speech because he makes us look weak and apologetic for our own existence. He really shouldn't be apologizing for policies that didn't work out for the best. He to will have policies that won't work.
We will have to apologize to the world for electing this moron and putting every ones lives in danger.
yep and the prick actually has perfect diction including trilling his R’s
see post 29. Nobody picks on Momma
I am not sure I understand, does that make us all trolls?
What did Jemian do that fits your definition of Troll? Not trying to be confrontational but maybe I got it wrong and missed something.
What is sad is the number of people who have so few neurons between their ears so as to not recognize the snake for what he is.
So let me get this straight, you ask if you are the only conservative who is not upset over the occupant’s apology 2.2 tour because he is acting like the lib he campaigned as?? & that makes it good because maybe the muslims leaders will make nice?
Basically, he dissed The United States of America and all those who have gone before us to fight for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in his pro-Islam/anti-Israel speech. and someone says, well gee, maybe you are not conservative (wonder why?).
Then you (who have been here for a little over a year) actually call someone who has been here since JAN 1998, which is basically the beginning of time as far as Free Republic is concerned, a troll???!!
I don’t usually talk like this but geez, get a clue, suck it up & take it back if you can’t take criticism, you need to find somewhere else to promote your blog :(
Correction, I stand by my comments, but I note that you were here before in 2004, but for some reason you had to re-enroll or change name...it is bad form to call someone who has been here since 1998 a troll simply because they disagree with you.
I was disgusted, too. I cannot stand to hear BITS of his talk, on the radio. Just disgusting. And he quotes from the Koran? Such a disgusting narcissistic megalomaniacal president some IDIOTS voted in.
“Krauthammer on Obamas speech: Abstract, vapid, and self-absorbed”
He seems to peg Obama quite accurately again and again. Though those descriptions would fit a majority of his words.
If you post you gotta take the good with the bad and mix it with your learning experience.
All this hiding behind a complaint form is going get you looked over every time you post.
I don't have a problem with your post even if I think you are trying to be controversial without really thinking through the consequences of Barry Sotero’s World Apology Tour and how that weakens our position with other nations and unnecessarily put countless lives in danger.
Chris, post all you want, but if the responses are to confusing for you then don't read them.
Yep. You’re the only one.
NO everyone matters—so perhaps you should be careful before you call ANYONE a TROLL; and yes, esp. a long-time member. You’ve been here since 2004 and you call someone a troll for disagreeing with you when you post a controversial post that by the title you knew would draw controversy?
Sorry, but I think it is in really bad form to call someone a troll just because they disagree with you—you posted something controversial, what did you expect—were you trying to short circuit debate? If not, don’t call them a troll==esp a long-time member for disagreeing with you
—to me, calling someone a troll when they are really just questioning or disagreeing withyour position, is like calling Rush a racist for questioning Sotomayor’s legal postions.
So I really was on opposite end of the spectrum with you—I was totally disturbed by the speech, and I totally disagree with you calling a long time-member a troll, but at least I did not call you a troll nor did I bring a mod into it.
Rush is a racist? I thought the Latino woman, Sotomayer, was the one making racist comments. /s
Phew! Initially, I thot, oh geez don’t tell me I stepped into it again—then I saw the /s.
I think you get my drift. It is very dangerous to start attacking folks for merely questioning a position. I often end a post with “we agree to disagree” but I don’t call someone a troll cause they disagree—well not that I can remember.
Ooh I do like the phrase “using a digger where there ain’t no dirt”—may steal that :)
as well as the red “/S”! I wish I was more proficient with html—gotta go back to those html sandbox threads and upgrade my skillz.
It is 12:24 p.m.—I am going off-line
—if you want chuckle/S, go to Drudge and look at the title with the terrorists and the TV. Peace in middle east by making nice with Islamic terrorists like Hammas? Hmmm, not very likely if a pic says a thousand words.
