We need the following - all through amendment

** term limits, 2 terms for senators, 5 terms for congressmen.
** recall provision for senators and congressmen
** balanced budget amendment

Term limits....YES. My state enacted them years ago. During the past 3 years the term-limited Senators have all been replaced with new ones. The “old-guard” is no longer in office. We now have no new “Grand Schemes” being cooked up by the “good old boys” that wanted to continually tax and spend. We are now in good fiscal shape and a few are wanting to assert “States Rights”, much like the Texas proposal. At the National Level...Yes..maybe 10 years, and THEN NO LIFETIME HEALTH AND PENSION BENEFITS!

We already have term limits. Adding externally imposed term limits is misnamed limit on voters not on those buying politicians (who will as easily buy the next batch of hungry crooks as they did the previous batch). Such external limits merely detach voters even further from punishment/reward levers over the politicians.

For all practical purposes e.g. one term limit has the same effect as the lifelong terms after one election (because in either case, you pick them once on their promise, which they keep if they wish). With such external limits you can't even try to keep the good guys in and punish the bad guys. Hence, it would skew the proportion of crooks vs good guys even more than what we have now since the opposing force that seeks to filter out the bad guys is weakened. Terrible idea.
