The American public will have to decided for themselves who is telling the truth---President Obama or the spokesman for the AARP.

The AARP is a socialist shill organization, that is why the rumors of them supporting 0bamacare are believable. Personally I still think they support it.
From what I’ve read they do support him, maybe not officially, but I think they realize they will lose members over this and so will probably stay on the fence officially. For an organization that is supposed to protect the interests of seniors they sure are betraying their members.
Follow the money.
They have been in bed with Obama from the beginning. When George Bush wanted to reform Social Security, and said that no change was going to affect any senior who is 55 years old and older, the AARP went to war and destroyed him. Meanwhile, Obama is trying to expand health coverage to more people, and yet cut costs and benefits, and the biggest group that will lose is seniors, and AARP is either silent, or behind the scenes they are trying to convince seniors the “reforms” are good for them. All seniors have to do is see how seniors are treated in the UK or Canada (a lot of them just die waiting for operations - hence saved money!). The AARP has failed in its fiduciary responsibility to truly represent the interests of its members, just like NOW did when they defended Bill Clinton against Paula Jones. This is a good thing.
I just saw an AARP commerical endorsing the healthcare plan.
I dpn’t see why it is an either/or proposition. Couldn’t they both be lying?
AARP was hugely in support of ClintonCare, too, and is heavily in the insurance business and pharmaceutical distribution business.
The AARP leadership uses the organization to support it.
A very large percentage of AARP members don’t support it.
“Couldnt they both be lying?”
Are their lips moving?
I have some serious doubts about this. The AARP is almost always on the left side of things politically and there has never been any mass exodus of members as a result, as far as I know.
Other ideas
Once Congress returns to Washington, Corker suggested citizens should pay close attention to the Senate Finance Committees discussion on using $410 billion from the Medicare program to leverage a new health care entitlement program.
The plan has drawn support from the American Association of Retired Persons.
I think the AARP has truly acted like a political shill on this, Corker commented. I think theyve thrown their constituents under the bus on this.

Why in the world do you think you hear the brown clown along with his pet stooge Gibbs bloviating on a daily basis about how these town hall meetings are “staged” political events instead of the grass roots anger they represent while he sends in the 17 year old daughter of an Obama organizer from Mass. to read a cue card that contained a beach ball at his town hall in N.H.?
Actually, they are both lying. Hussein is technically lying because AArp has not formally endorsed nationalizing the Health sector. AARP is lying because AARP has been hustling socialism in Health Care for a long time and actually does support enthusiastically the Party Plan. ARP is not yet “on board” but it is shouting encouragement from the pier and doing some of the longshore work.
BOTH LIARS
I heard an AARP radio advertisement just yesterday. It was full of mealy mouthed crap about “sorting out the truth from the fiction on health care”. The end result was that they support the bill, and they say the “mobs” are just a bunch of lying rabblerousers.
AARP loves this bill, but they know they will lose half their membership if they endorse it. If I were a member of that organization... What am I saying! I would never be a member of that organization!
I usually use that as a touchstone for both parties but I haven’t seen any video. Probably. I don’t think either party would ever consider telling the truth as a first option even if it was in their benefit to do so because they are so used to lying.
How much you wanna bet that the final bill included language making AARP a “government partner is health care”, and they will get $Umpteen Billion to “provide counseling and informational support for the Elder Community” or some such thing...
Not supporting the views and being a member of AARP are two separate issues. I know of at least one senior citizen who wouldn’t give up the AARP discounts no matter what the AARP supported.
