That has got to be one of the worst spinoffs in recent history.

I agree, the show is bad. Really bad.

Through an unplanned event, they find themselves aboard a decrepit spaceship "Destiny" so far from Earth that the distance is described as “the other side of the universe.”

Star Trek Voyager? Again?

I still like it. I look at it as a completely different story from SG1 with a few minor threads running between them. AFAIK, the star gate ain’t going to be doing them much good.

Jack O’Neill was MacGyver, and could do suprpising things like hot-wiring a space shuttle and fly it through a Stargate, where he conversed with a skinny little space alien.

SG-U, not so much.

Hey, it does have one good point. It makes Amanda Tapping’s Sanctuary look good by comparison.

Voyager was just across town... the Destiny... is in a different galaxy. They are not even sure which direction Earth is in.

Star Trek Voyager? Again?

I thought it looked more like a through back to The Time Tunnel.

Last night's episode was particularly bad. When faced with a crisis the crew literally did nothing. Instead of the Destiny they should call it the DustInTheWind.

The author asks you to NOT get him started on a storyline “save” by having a doomed spaceship survive by eating the star for food. Used to be called deus ex machina.

“SG-1 long ago surpassed Star Trek as the top science fiction show in the world.”

???

Ok, I’ve avoided this show since somewhere in season 3.

Is this series really THAT good?

I know.

Some exterior force or even saves the day.

Bad story idea.

Audience is robbed.

I forgot to set the DVR last night and I didn’t miss seeing it.

The story presentation is disjointed. Past, future, current, past, current, unknown, future. Bodyjumping. What?

The characters are not interesting.

It is all rather cliche-ish.

I like the show, but more as bubble-gum entertainment rather than serious science fiction. The characters annoy me to heck though - Ming Na, who I despised in the few episodes of ER I watched with her in, as the lesbian HR person serves no purpose but to placate any gay watchers.

The female special forces member is very, very nice - but once again, female special forces? While another military person (the one whose birthday was on last episode) is overly effeminate. I like Lou Diamond Phillips, but are we going to see his character try to take over the ship every other episode, only to have the Colonel come back and thwart his efforts?

I like the colonel character, the lieutenant, the medic (who I’m sure was working for the Lucian Alliance and led to the attack in the pilot), and to a lesser extent the geeky fat kid and Rush, for having a cool name.

I think so. You can't compare to the Original Star Trek. But I liked it better than Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. It had good characters. It was enjoyable with some really fun episodes. And, it had a storyline that, every week, came back to SG Command. That's the part that, I thin, made it special. SG-1 always made it home to sort of regroup and reconnect. Towards the end they reached on the Ori thing but it was still fun.

I probably agree, but be fair, how can anything match up to SG-1? For me, those actors came out of nowhere (except MacGyver), and were superb, both individually and as a team. I BELIEVED!

Some of the plots were a bit thin, but it did not matter. The actors were great. You could take the plot to be an allegory of modern life or gripping entertainment for the next hour, but it did not matter. The entertainment was great.

The characters were quirky but consistent - the inscrutable and reliable alien, the boffin girl scout, the dorkish archaeologogist meeting real (!) life, and above all, that CO - what’s up with him? The characters were great.

I loved Star Trek, Next Generation was better but SG-1 was best.

I really dislike that part of the show. When they are in different bodies everyone acts as if nothing unusual is going on.

I think Philip's character somehow "traps" himself in the other body and takes over command.
