Last May, I wrote on CNN's ratings troubles in prime-time, after being topped by MSNBC during the hours of 8pm to 11pm.
But for the month of October, CNN was beaten by not only MSNBC in the 25-54 demo, but also its sister network, HLN. Fox News remains the dominant cable news network, and will easily hold onto the number 1 spot.
The Times Bill Carter reports on the latest numbers, which will be finalized this afternoon. While CNN has lost before to MSNBC and HLN, there are some notable firsts in how poorly some of the network's shows are performing against the competition.
Individually, the CNN shows were beaten resoundingly by all the Fox News programs, but also lost to all of the MSNBC programs, including a repeat of Keith Olbermanns 8 p.m. edition of Countdown, which beat the 10 p.m. hour of CNNs signature prime-time program, Anderson Cooper 360. Again that was a first.
Mr. Cooper had 211,000 viewers to 223,000 for Mr. Olbermanns repeat. That meant Mr. Cooper finished fourth and last in the 10 p.m. hour because, besides being well behind the leader, Greta Van Susteren, who had 538,000 viewers, he was also beaten by a repeat of Nancy Graces 8 p.m. show on HLN which averaged 222,000.

It’s just a bad network..their anchors and hosts are just not interesting on any level.
Pissing off some of your audience by labelling them with homosexual slurs is a sure way to chase away your competition to a network that doesn’t insult you.
From the article: “When major news events happen, such as election night or presidential debates, viewers flock to CNN. But on the average night, it increasingly appears that the more opinionated hosts on competing networks are pulling in cable news viewers.”
More opinionated hosts indeed!!!
They just don’t get it.
“Fox News remains the dominant cable news network, and will easily hold onto the number 1 spot.”
GAME.SET.MATCH.

Anderson Cooper is the perfect anchor to lead CNN on its “race for the bottom.”
Outside of US, they’re OK bec. they preach the gospel of Obeyme. It’s not only the condescending hosts who “lecture” at the audience but the graphics and RSS are annoying.
Fact-checking SNL and ‘Hit and Run’ Sanchez brought CNN to new lows.
